Faulty BPV? Lack of power.

I just replaced the stock WGA with the Forge unit, and upgraded to Corksport Silicon intercooler piping. Now I seem to be having a problem.

If I ease on the gas I don't really have a problem, but if I try to get on it the car falls flat on its face. Also, I can hear the boost leaking from what I can tell to be from the BPV. I don't have a boost gauge yet to see what PSI I'm making.

Any ideas?

I'd say first off buy a boost/vacuum gauge so you can monitor your pressure. They're not expensive or hard to install and it's a must have item especially if you plan on upgrading your car. People on here aren't really going to be able to help if you're not able to provide answers to the basic questions that they're gonna ask i.e. vacuum or boost pressure readings. Just make sure all your hoses are set up right and check that all of your clamps and connections are tight as well.

Sadly I'm in the same exact situation... But I replaced my wga with a Atp... I think the waste gate is stuck open just a tiny bit. When I accelerate it sounds like the turbo is working hard as s*** but I'm not going anywhere bc all my boost is leaking out from the wg...

Thats what "I" think only bc if I move the wg ARM manually a couple times and go for a drive the car pulls like a beast then slowly the wg gets stuck again and I'm back to square one...

And BTW bowman is 100% right, you'll be chasing a needle in a haystack if you don't have some gagues to monitor your engine and help others diagnose from afar lol

I got the boost/vacuum gauge installed today, and got some numbers.

Looks like between 22-24 in/Hg of vacuum at idle, and around 18-20 in/Hg while cruising around 65MPH. Boost is where I begin to have problems. I really have to hammer down on it to get around 3psi, and I had it jump to about 9psi a couple times. Once it starts making boost the gauge gets very erratic. Also, I can hear the boost bleeding off from somewhere. All the connections are tight, and I put a little soapy water around the ends of the connectors to check for leaks and nothing was found.

I am thinking that it could be either a bad BPV or WGA. Any suggestions?

for the wga you could blow into the line and see if you got a leak.
for the bpv you need a vaccum gun to see if you can get it to open and close.
for the flap on the turbo you can unhook the wga and see if you can flap the hinge freely if you feel any snag points you might have some issues there....good luck

i didnt know i had bpv issues until i tried a few differnt kind and felt the differnce..I collect BPV while i walk through the junk yard from saabs, volvos and A few supra's here and there. There cheap and a good tool to use for comparison.

another trick i did for the wga while its attached to the flap is mark the arm use a bicycle pump pressurize the wga the release the air quick. compare return points if there different, your snagging the flap and would explain your differnt boost points....

Now the car is really giving me hiccups when it goes in to boost. It starts bucking and falls on its face, so I have to let off the pedal.

have you found any leaks? my problems are pretty identical, i have like 0 time to mess with s*** so i havent really done any investigating. With my car it seemed like a huge boost leak at the intercooler hoses, so i replaced those and to my amazment the car got alot slower... its so bad right now i really only make power up until 3k and when boost kicks in i just hear the turbo spinning crazy fast and the car falls flat on its face to my dissapointment.

I replaced my hoses already with the Corksport ones, which like yours made it worse. I have checked them multiple tines with no luck on finding a leak.

Well I kinda got a little anxious bc my turbo is seeping oil out of the housing (prob from over working it with the leak) and I ordered out a pre-made boost leak tester this morning, ill let you know what I find out once I get it.

Weird how our problems are identical lol what are the chances

Bowman its not the plugs... Mine are new and still same problem. I think the leak is being majorly amplified in boost bc it feels like if I push the pedal any more once I'm in boost the car literally goes slower than if I very gradually accelerate

my cars been doing somthing too. all summer i had no problems and im running 6 psi on the forged wtg and come fall it started to love the colder weather then recently i notice it would shoot up to 9 psi then fall right to 3 psi with the pedal to the floor i check all my clamps and there all good replaced all vac lines too. only thing now i can think of being bad is the stock sidemount or the stock bpv but its just bugging the crap outa me.

I have a Forge BOV coming this week, so maybe that along with relocating the MAF will make a difference.

thats my idea but id do it to get rid of my bpv. im running both my bpv and a greddy bov. but im gonna test to find leaks hopefully i can find a leak. if not i might just take the turbo off and run n/a until i have more time and money to figure it out. so if you find something let me know.
