Faulty BPV? Lack of power.

I changed the BPV over to a Forge BOV and it helped a bit. I need to set it up like the guide in the Kill Your Turkey thread to get the full effect.

Should I be getting backfire through the exhaust on shifts 2-3, and 3-4? This started when this problem started.

You can rule out the BPV by clamping it shut and disabling it.

If you remove it and run a cheater hose, then if the problem goes away then the BPV was either leaking or poorly adjusted.

You do not want to drive too much like this, just to diagnose the issue.

It's holding boost better with the new BOV, but I can still hear it leaking when I get on it hard.

i got the same problem still, I need to pull off my dp and check my wg bc im 99.99% positive thats the issue. I did a boost leak test on mine and my ic pipes hold 8 psi without dropping so my guess is the wg arm bushing isnt letting the wg seat completly. although on the other hand im sure i prob could use a new bpv but im not to worried about that. im currious to see what my A/f ratio looks like when i hook up my wideband o2, and i got gaskets already to pull the turbo so i should be doing that relatively soon. ill post pictures when i get done

Holy s*** I have the same problem , my wga is about 2 months old and now when I press on it as soon as I hit 3000 rpm the car falls flat on its face no power what so ever but it boost steady at 8-9psi and my wideband shows me 17 afr. its really a boost related problem because the car drives fines under normal operation. Dr0 please give us an update if you find the problem!

slp that sounds like your pump is going out. if your reading siper lean careful you dont blow..

Yeah I'm staying outta boost for now and by pump you mean the fuel pump? The car drives 100% when its not boosting could that still be the pump??

Im assumeing so. Im just looking at the info you give. your going super lean so either
1-not getting enough fuel
2-the system is not registering that your going into boost.
I would check all vac lines to make sure everyone is connected also check for cracked lines
the area I would check mostly is the cluster of sensors on the top left of the engine bay..
After doing that there is only a couple other things you can check but you may nedd some equipment
one would be to check your 02 is it working and 2 fuel pressure..

Alright Im gonna start with changing the spark plugs and making sure theyre gapped correctly , and just to clarify my vaccum reading is 15 inHG , I know its low but that never caused a problem until recently. After the spark plugs Ill bring it to a shop so they can verify if theres enough fuel pressure.
Now that I think of it sometimes the car smells like fuel could it be leaky fuel
injectors?

well its a good start. But im wondering if bad o-rings on your fuel injectors could cause your low vac and that fuel smell you got. Check your fuel pump pressure like you were going to do and go from there.

i also read somewhere on the forum that if you replace the fuel injectors use the 626 the more spongy and have a better seal.

Stop thread jacking and talk in pm lol me and thomas still have unresolved issues

well since i have exactly the same symptoms I woulnt call it thread jacking , but Ill talk by pm if Im in te way.

I noticed this morning that it pulls hard the first time I get in to boost but after that the problem starts. Has to be something with the wastegate arm I believe.

Yeah I got all the gaskets, a boost gague, a/f gague, MBC and an ssafc V2 to install, I figure id go overkill so its worth it to do it all at once lol

Ordered a tubular exhaust manifold, intercooler kit, vacuum block , and silicon hose for everything getting a dedicated port on the block. Next up will be the SSAFC once my Christmas bonus comes in.

hah ill let you know how it all goes! im still hunting for a winter dd so unfortunatly this issue is not #1 priority lol

disregard my post, there was nothing wrong with my wg... im still stuck with the problem.

This problem is getting worse. When my car gets to operating temp the car drives terribly once I hit boost. Today I was trying to speed up to go around someone on the highway, and when I pushed the gas in the car bogged down to almost dying, RPMs dropped significantly.

Hey guys,

I'm new to this forum but after searching for my problem this looks very close to the issue im having.

I replaced the fuel filter after it had a gas leak on top. Now it starts and its running fine but has stalling issues like the engine is not having enough power.

I used my old fuel pump on a new fuel filter, I'm considering just buying the new fuel pump and thinking the old one is going bad.
