Fatti03msp's Build Thread

ill have to give that a try tom.

Think a blow torch would be an ok second alternative? Just heat it up real quick to get the metal to expand.

get to do a wheel bearing tomorrow, not really looking forward to that haha

Two questions...

1. What is good quality clutch to get? I have a exedy Stage 1 and i love it, but its not strong enough. I cant go past 8psi.

2. Other then HP/TQ rating... is there a difference between a the regular protege clutch and the MSP. I know it sounds stupid, but i have seen the regular protege clutches listed so much cheaper.

wait, why can't you go past 8psi? what would happen to the clutch?

I'm guessing it would start to slip.

Fatti: I don't know the exact specs on our stock clutch but I think Exedy had a hand in it so maybe they have some info on their website? Just a thought.

edit: Do you have American Racing wheels? That design looks similar.

from what I hear exedy is the stage 1 clutch that gets love, spec's stage 2, or better yet 2+ is best if you gotta go up a level. I've got an exedy stage 1 and I honestly don't know if its MSP or regular protege. As long as you get one that'll hold the power level you're looking to make you should be good.... it'll bolt up so after that do the numbers and figure out whats gonna do the job?

my clutch starts to slip, at 8psi my clutch slips a lil on my top end

spec stage 2+ is 485 for the msp 365tq

spec stage 3 is 332 for the protege 350 tq

well the stage 2 has the same rating, so stage 2 and 3 for the regular protege have the same rating

ya lol, but the price difference is huge, thats y i was wondering if there was a difference in the clutches

so i have pondering a bronze color rim on my FOREVER

well i finally made an attempt, just did the one side of my car cause i ran out of sunlight

but here are some crappy pics. I know there crappy, but what do you guys think?

I know black looks good but i wanted to try something different, i have had black rims since i bought the car.

Fatti, if you get a Spec clutch, make sure you get the "+" of the clutch number, aka 2+ and not the 2, 3+ and not the 3, the easiest way to explain is that the + means it has the same feel as the number, but much stronger. and worth every penny.

I think it looks good. Is it me or is your left front wheel bent?

ya, but its the lip thats bent no the whole rim. Still seals though so its all good till i get some more rims

REALLY!!!!! lol kind of figured that haha, but i dont think im going with the MSP designated clutch.

The stage 2+ is rated at 365 for the msp and the stage 2 for the regular protege is rated at 350 and over 100 bucks cheaper.

Black looks better.

I do like the black and i do think it looks better, but i do like the bronze. I have had black rims on the car since i bought it. Wanted to change it up a lil.

Still need to get some better pics and do the other side of the car though lol, was at a rotary all day so and now its raining.

Tom. ill be finishing up the wheels and taking off my turbo mani so my roommate can get the mock up done for the turbo mani setup he is making.

keep it black. or maybe go orange. gold doesnt mesh well, plus its not a wrx lol. sick speed tho. nice work.
