Falango's CG work (56K probably not)

Again, been a while since I've updated, but the car is near completion!!! I am very happy with it's progress and will be starting a custom rally paint scheme for it within a few days. I have an animator on board to animate this thing, and an particle effects student working on some dirt/mud/water/crud effects for the animation!!! Can't wait for this to take shape! I don't have any renders of it as of late, but will post some soon. The textures for the interior are pretty much done, and the exterior is close.

I also started up a blog where you can keep track of all my 3D work. Would appreciate it if you left some feedback, and share it with your friends (especially if they are in this industry :)).

So I finally got some updated renders of this thing!!! Just finished texturing the headlight and taillight. Tomorrow I'll work on the texture for the tires, rims, brakes, and suspension.

HOLY s*** BATMAN!!! How did I miss this thread? I live on this forum when im at work too! Nice job man I am highly impressed!

However being a mazda forum member its a requirement to make a MSP, P5, and reg Pro beings tha you have a pro!

Thanks dude, everyone on the forum wants me to make one, haha. I think soon after I grad in June, I will definately make one. Not sure if I want to do low poly or high poly. I may do something in between, and start with my car. From there, I can build the MSP, MP3, P5, all of em. I think I'll do some of the more popular aftermarket parts for em too :D

Here's a test render I did yesterday morning. Car is 100% ready to go now. Render is with a really basic lighting rig, nothing special. More test renders coming in the next week or so. I need to adjust the color of the paint a bit. Trying to match the world rally blue from Subaru, but it's a bit on the bright side right now.

Here's a test render from today with the dirt texture almost ready to go on the car. Environment is a work in progress, and will be done in about 2 weeks time. Need to tweak the lighting a little bit as well, but otherwise, pleased with the result thusfar!!

Thanks!! Keep an eye out for more updates. I'm 7 weeks away from graduation and I can't wait to see this project finished in it's entirety!!! I'm stoked!!

Well I'm learning it to make a living doing this type of work. I'm having tons of fun with it though. Dream job would be to work at Polyphony Digital on the Gran Turismo series, or at Codemasters working on DiRT and TOCA if it ever comes back. I came across a local company today though that does high detail models of aircraft and construction equipment for instructional and training videos, which is right up my alley as well. Definately looking into contacting them soon.

Wow.. You certainly have some talent :)

Your render of the subaru is incredible, especially in "rally" form as you just posted. I'm sure you'll have no problems finding work.

(Hopefully you will work on GT5.. They certainly need help getting that game out on time!)

I've been watching every video and preview released for GT5. I bought my PS3 almost 3 years ago just for that game, haha. The geometry in the rally render isn't smoothed out either, so the details will pop out alot more in the final renders. Once I get some post production work done on every shot, it'll look even better on top of that!

Last day before graduation!!! Last few weeks have been insane, no sleep, 12-16 hour days at school, sometimes even longer. But here's a taste of what 2 years of hard work has got me to. Final demo reel will be posted tomorrow!

This shot is 90% render, 10% paint. The dirt was painted into the composition in Photoshop, the rest is a render straight out of Maya, with some simple adjustments in post processing.

incredible, i pay for games that dont have that level of accuracy and detail

Wow, that's awesome!

I was thinking the same thing! (lol2)

Well, you will rarely get this much detail in games, this model is far too expensive in terms of geometry density and texture coverage for any game, haha. This car is about 750000 polygons, cars in Forza 3 I beleve are around 80000, GT5 are near 100000, and Need For Speed Shift is down around 30000-50000 I believe. Very happy with my results though!

Thanks, the car was a big hit at the show, I was very happy with how it all turned out. Got a few hits from some local companies, mainly visual effects studios, so hopefully something good comes along soon!
