F*CK 18 Wheelers!!!

Driving into work today and a semi with a trailer full of stone cut me off and then a fistfull of stone flies out the back of the truck when he hits a bump and WHACK!! The biggest stone hits my hood and skips up and into the windsheild. I now have a lovely 2" gash down to the metal on the hood and several smaller score marks on the windsheild (right in the damn middle where I have to look at it)!!!! I hate trucks. The front of my car is in worse shape than the nose of the space shuttle. (pissed) :mad:

Couldn't that be considered negligence? I mean, in the winter when people don't clear the ice of their cars and that big ole ice floe comes flying at your car they can be held accountable. Did you get the guy's license plate # or any other identifying information? Company, etc?

Yea did you get his license plate #?? Here in Texas we dont get much ice, but if an 18 wheeler kicks up rocks at our windshield b/c he doesnt have mud flaps on his trailer, he is accountable. All you have to do is get his license plate # and the number on the side of his door. Call his company and explain what happened. They should pay for all damages!

It was rush hour and after the rock hit I just flew by him on the right and blew past him. Good luck trying to get a trucking company to take responsibility for that sort of s*** in this province. The damn city wont even pay for damage to cars due to pot holes. It's driver beware out this way.

Yea, for city ordinances. But that truck was a private company, right? If they have enough money to pay for that truck and whatever they are shipping they have enough money to pay for your new windshield and hood!

Having been in this situation before here (wifes car and a board came out of a pickup and took out her marker light) and gotten nowhere with it, I figured I'd save my self the aggravation of phoning a trucking company that would just give me the run around. Please feel free to come here and resolve the situation for me Mr Expert.

You would be argueing with a driver or company that would say "prove it". You can't, unless perhaps you have a witness in the car, which i didnt. Trust me, here, it's pointless. Unless they hit you with the vehicle itself. I had a guy in a dump truck go "Mad Max" on me about 7 years ago. I called his company and their response was " We dont beleive you, he's a good driver" (protect your buddies mentality) so I called the cops and they said " You can take it to court but it's your word against the driver and it most likely wont go anywhere". So, I did the best thing I could and got out from behind the truck.

yeah, it's even bigger when you live in a place like this where people cant be held responsable for this sort of thing. I wonder how a MSP would look with a nose mask?

look at the bright side ... this is your change to get an EVO or CF hood hehe

but i know man .. .this really sucks. i had a guy pass me on the right once, he used the shoulder to pass me because there were cars on the left (i was in the right lane) and his car threw a couple rocks at me. i have 2 or 3 good stone chips on my hood and it cracked my windshield a bit. i was so pissed off .... anyway, had to pay 80$ to have my windshield fixed and ill eventually change my hood for a fiberglass EVO hood

the way i see it ... if it breaks, change it for something better =)

That's why I keep waaaay back from those trucks. So far, just one tiny chip, which I fixed the same day. You really have to look for it to tell it's there.

I either stay back or if I can pass em fast. This ass hat cut me off just about 3 car lengths before I was about to pass him. Insult to injury.
