Extremely Soft Brake Pedal

I changed my rear pads earlier today, but when I went to drive afterwards the pedal went all the way to the floor, and its like I got no resistance from the brakes what so ever. Everything was fine before I changed the rear pads. My fluid reservoir is full. When I was changing the driver side pads I did disconnect the feed line to the caliper, lost some fluid, but I filled the reservoir before driving. Any Ideas????

......ya....your gonna need to bleed all four calipers now... its a two man job.

By disconnecting the feed line did that mess up the pressure in the system?

Is there anything special that needs to be done for the ABS? or is it the basic process?

nothing special just bleed them.

I was reading a couple of different places on the process, some places say let the pedal go all the way to the floor, and some say only halfway. Whats the right way???

No, according to factory mazda manuals;

First person slowly depresses the brake pedal a couple times then holds it in the depressed position while the other person opens the bleed screw with a hose attached. Repeat until no air is seen coming out of the hose.
Also according to mazda's literature since you disconnected the line at the caliper you will want to start that that caliper and then move to the next cylinder closest to where you disconnected until all 4 are bled.

I only got air from the line that i disconnected, but still bled all four to be thorough. The pedal is back to normal, and actually better than it was before all of this. Thanks for the help guys.

Yeah you usually just bleed all four to make sure the air hasn't climbed in the system. Good to hear all is back to normal now!
