extra cost?

Hey guys...
Before i go and purchase a Protege, i was wondering what you guys had to pay additon on top of the MSRP. For example those very unnesscary cost, such as, P.D.I, Freight, A/C tax, licencing tax, etc. Why should a brand new car be inspected before being deliveried? it's brand new! Anyways, just wanted to do some homework before and wanted to be a wise consumer. Thanks!

usually, its just taxes and tag charges. good luck whenever you do go to the mazda dealer, hopefully youll get a good deal!

for starters....you should NEVER pay MSRP for a car.....you shouldn't have to pay but a few hundred over the dealer invoice at most. the "STICKER" is WAY over invoice price. but other than that.....TAX, TITLE, AND LICENCE fees.....plus the destination charge if there is one. as far as the inspection.....I assume you are talking about the saftey inspection...well here in the states EVERY car has to have one before it goes on the street....normally its required every year....but on a NEW car they issue the sticker for two years. at least they do in Texas

Hehe don't tell that to most MP3 owners...heck there are lots who paid above MSRP which is really ridiculous. At first, a salesmen at the dealership I bought mine at tried to ask for 2 grand more than MSRP, I told him that he was full of crap cuz I knew MSRP. With all the fees and everything including tinting I got my MP3 for just below MSRP and was happy with that deal.

The MSRP on My Protege 5 was $19,055 I paid $19,065 out the door. And then I got the $750 cash back. I got it through the internet/fleetsales manager. He sells at $400 over invoice. See if any dealers near you have this. If so you can save a lot of time and money by going through them.

okay....good point....when you are talking about a limited edition car...they will certainly be able to get either close to, at, or above MSRP....IF the demand is there.

Anyone know the Canadian invoice price on a loaded P.5? Where i can find out CANADIAN invoice prices?

Thanks,
Claeren.

you did good then.....for the TTL is unavoidable...and it will generally come to near $1000.....I got pretty much the same deal on my car....cept since I was getting two I got them down to $150 over on my P-5 and $300 on my wifes.

yeah...the basic fees are unavoidable (taxes, registration, inspection)...but you can probably find a really good deal on a protege if te dealer has an overstock...for me i got my P5 with a manual transmission, tint, alarm, and floormats(stupidest accessory to charge for) for a little more then $16k US out the door...so needless to say i was happy...but shop around and try to talk the dealer down...

im getting my MS protege for 1000 over msrp
am i getting reamed?

as far as I am concerned you are....just take the KY jelly with you to the dealer and it won't hurt so bad.....

just figure this....there is AT LEAST $1000 profit over invoice built into MSRP.....and you just added another $1000.

however, now you have to consider that the car is somewhat a limited edition car.....and there won't be that many around. THUS, the dealer WILL sell it for at least MSRP if not more....since there will be someone out there willing to pay that much for that fine automobile.....

So, if its you....and you think its a fair price....the REAL question is....do YOU feel like you are getting reamed? if not....its a decent deal. if you don't like that deal....look elseware or go back to the bargining table......but you may not like what you find there.....but then again...you never know till you try.

I don't know about the states but in Canada this is illegal if the car is still stock. They are making some major profit off of you the way I see it and are gouging the price only because they can.

Not sure if you can talk to Mazda US about this matter to get price protection so they don't charge above MSRP...but I'd consider calling at least as it could very well save you a grand.
