Exhaust - Which one? How much?

I can reduce the value on the customs form. But in the event of damage you would be liable for the difference in replacement costs. I simply don't have time to go to USPS to do this. Let me know asap. There's only one in stock.

thanks, Rishie

go for the exhaust!

Good advice!

I've been going over the numbers and it looks like a new wheel setup will cost me a small fortune. Even if I get the rims for $600 i've still got to get tires and mounting/balancing....... And I can always store the old exhaust to put on later, during the cars 'twilight years'.

And the racing beat doubles as a (slight) performance mod and exterior garnish! I'll save for the rims and try to get them next summer, i'd only have about 2 months left to enjoy them this year anyway...... Is August over already?!?!?

ARD MP5: Sign me up for the exhaust, i've got to transfer some cash to my cc to do the paypal thing, but it should be there by tomorrow afternoon (maybe earlier if I can sneak out of work for a bit tomorrow morning :)

Sounds good. You can always send a money order next day if you want. This will reduce the price to $435.00 shipped if you'd like.

Let me know,

Rishie

I am holding the exhaust for street preacher.

Thanks Rishie!

For a minute there I felt like I was on Who wants to be a millionaire or something, the way I was reasoning myself out loud through a decision. Ah well, if my inner struggle doesn't interest you just keep scrolling. :p

dont know where the majority of yous live but in PA they (CARB and Emissions ''people'') are cracking down on this sort of thing and unfortunatley, allot of tuners here are finding out 75% of the stuff they bolted on has to go for their car to be street legal.

might wanna keep that in mind, and yes even for somthing as a new canister can get your car ground.
plus, if your worried bout your warranty, forget it, put that money toward system parts or new seats, liteweight rims, hookers, drug, ect

as long as you have the two stock cats, you're in the clear for CARB. you can even replace those two stock cats with high flow cats as long as those high flow cats clean the exhaust emissions as well as the stock ones did. you might not pass visual, but you'll definitely pass the sniffer.

i know in states like california or florida, you can't alter or modify an exhaust system from stock. a friend got a fix it ticket for having a modified exhaust. she turned it back into a standard exhaust but with upgraded piping and a new muffler and she's all good now.

most people who upgrade their exhaust systems usually gut a cat, remove a cat, or even remove both cats... this is a no no in states with stringent emissions laws. it's actually a federal law, i think, to alter the emissions system on any car.

tonkabui, your friend that got the fix it ticket, was that for putting on an exhaust, then changing it from there. Or for just having the exhaust? Here in San Diego, I've never heard of a fix it ticket for an exhaust. There are a ton of rice rockets out here(look at Mira Mesa!!), I don't know how cops would have time for all that fix it junk. Maybe I'm just reading this wrong. Maybe I'm dumb. Yes/No on the first, YES on the second...

Phreek,

That's hilarious about Mira Mesa. I used to live at Mira Woods Apartments by the junior college. Holy sh#t, I've never seen so many riced-out Hondas! And I drove a Civic at the time! It was completely stock. I used to dread stopping at a light there, because there was always some kid next to me revving his 4-banger. Good times.

Well the Racing Beat exhaust is the stock setup on the MP3 right? So i'm thinking that since it's practically OEM for the protege that I shouldn't have any problems with emissons and/or warranty. Right?? I see tons of Honda's running around with friggin watermelon cannons strapped to them, so i'm hoping the racing beat will be fine? You guys are getting me worried...

BTW, I live in Ontario Canada.

Streetpreacher, I just recently bought the Racing Beat off a guy who owns a 2003 Mazdaspeed since I own a sedan it's a direct fit.
I am very happy with the sound. It has a nice low deep sound off the line and at highway speeds it's barely noticeable.
I did notice my car felt smoother and seem to feel like I had more top end on the highway after I installed it.
I didn't want anything loud so it suites my needs just right.

SilverPro:

Thanks for the info, that's exactly what i'm looking for. Something that's a little louder and throatier while puttering around, but I do a lot of highway driving so it's good to hear that it's fairly quiet at speed. Also I think I must be getting old (25), because I can't help cracking up and being disgusted at those 6 inch tailpipes I see sticking out from some cars. I saw one on a p5 at a gas station during the blackout (where I was stranded for 6 hours) and I just wanted to ask the kid "why?". I guess they like the noise, but at this point it'd just end up giving me a headache.

Have you taken your car to the dealer for anything since installing it? They give you any grief?

I've seen p5's in some of the dealer showrooms with injen intakes etc. already installed, so don't think they'll have a problem with this.

Can't wait!

Streetpreacher, I see your from Hamilton. Have you checked out TOprotegeclub.com? There's some good posts on that board. Also a good group of people there as well.
You might find some members that live out near you.

I know what you mean about noisy exhausts. I myself am 30 something and prefer not to have unwanted attention to my car.
Just looking for a little performance and a deep sound.

I'm Jealous, I just got my P5 and I already have the feaver.

I see them selling the P5 with either a Ractive axle back or RB cat back w/injen CAI and 17" wheels lowered.

I am not sure what the policy is but if they can sell them like that than they must be able to warranty them like that. The only thing I can think of that they may try to use is the ol' "if it ain't installed by the dealer we won't warranty it!"

Anyway the RB cat back will not cause you any problems so no need to worry.

no no... the exhaust piping was actually rerouted. and i guess also it depends on the cop and how he feels that day. i don't know. i've been away from california for over a year, i don't know the laws there like i used to. damn arizona... anything and everything goes. well, except when you have to put your car through emissions.

I may have a few more P5's in our SoCal warehouse. I will honor the same price to any of the Canada guys. LEt me know.

Rishie

tonka, thanks for clearing that up. I think I was just REALLY tired last night and wasn't thinking.

ARD, I see you say you have a So Cal warehouse... What do you have? I'm so out of money right now, but in a month I should have a good sum saved up again. I just like ordering parts from CA places cuz ground still gets here over night or in 2 days. I had to order my Intake from GA and it took 8 days, well 6 business days.

My wife has the SR Motorsports Cat-back on her P5.

great build quality. awesome sound. very deep tone, at idle you can barely hear it both inside and outside the car. we have been on a few road trips with it and It does not get on our nerves. In fact when cruising on the freeway it is quite enough for my wife to fall asleep.

IMHO it is the best exhaust for the money out for the P5.

so what performance improvements can i expect with a new exhaust ?
what gains can i expect in conjunction with an intake ?
