Exhaust Removal?

With a set of sockets and some jack stands.:D

I am pretty sure that the MSP and the MP5 are pretty much the same.

I took mine off the other day just to see what it sounded like w/o a muffler or resonator, and it actually sounded good. Very loud inside the cabin but very deep and no raspy noises.

Why are you taking yours off?? With a little more information we might be able to help you better.

4 - 14 mm bolts and 2 hangers i took mine off for a few weeks and its sounds GOOD ! but hopefully when i get time tomarrow i will put it back on. i think my car is smoking and had internal damage but not shure if is it smoking. i cant tell from under the car
 
haha I took my muffler off in order to install the MazdaSpeed Exhaust on my MP5. The most important tool in the entire ordeal was a can of WD-40. I tugged on those damn bolts with a socket wrench for about an hour before I decided to try and use some WD-40. I soaked the bolt heads with it, let 'em sit for about 15-20 minutes, and the bolts popped loose. Removal and installation was a breeze after that.

Just experimenting.. From what it sounds like, I may like the sound of it. Should I remove it from just the axleback or the full cat?
 
u will need to remove it fron the cat theres no hangers for the resantor the axle back holds the resantor in place along with the cat u still need to remove the axle back to get it all out

Is this something I should be able to pull off in my driveway? Any negative affects from doing this?
 
i was looking at removing my axle back section of the exhaust. as it might sound cool and give some performance you might want to only do it for race times. if you remove it for extended periods of time you'll probably see the right swaybar bushing deteriorate from heat cycling. the reason i say this is because of the way the flange from the b-pipe points straight up and all the exhuast heat will heat up that one area. a good solution is to get a muffler shop to make a flange and tubing piece to extend over the axle to properly direct the exahust gases.

definitely go cat back off. it's loud as hell in the car but still cool outside of the car and it helps redline shifting (lightning turbo responce) I would recomend making a 1' section of pipe that directs the exhaust towards the road (helps in cabin noise alot). the only down side is that torque at initial boost is horrible. but if you are a redline racer/driver than you will like
