Exhaust Question?.....

Just wanted to see if anyone else is haveing this problem.....I have a 07 MS3 and sometimes when starting out it feels like it is going to choke down like I have it in the wrong gear....but that is not the case...plus I am having alot of black smoke and exhaust grime on my pipe and the bumper.....has anyone else had this problem or experienced this??......I took it to the dealer and they said that everything looked fine that they could not find anything.....any help would be great

First, the taking off part is likely just not getting the clutch feel quite right when taking off. This is still a 4 cylinder and does not have gobs of torque at idle speeds

Secondly, the black soot on the pipe and bumper cover is quite normal. These cars run quite rich and the accumulation is normal. At least according to most folks on here, as well as my dealer service dept. I noticed it immediately and asked about it then.

Brake dust and tailpipe soot build up faster than any previous car I have owned.....

Yea I have had it since August and I knew that the car ran rich and had more soot than any other car I or my friends have owned, but I am getting alot more than usual......and the bogging down part is not only at take off it will happen while I am in gear like 3rd without the clutch pushed in.......so I dont think it is clutch feel....

Ok, you've had the car since August, so you ought to know and, more importantly be able to verbalize to us if this is a new thing or if you have always had this problem, or if it's intermittent, etc.

This is a new problem.....which is why I am asking.....the exhaust soot I was use to but it has not been this bad before and I have not noticed any black smoke before....this started maybe a week to a week and a half ago....and the choking down comes and goes....it has not done it for the past two days...but it will do it when the engine is warm....cause I know that if the weather is cold a turbo car will do that until it warms up.....but I have not known anyone to experience it with the engine warm....

I agree. Mine had to have the ecu reflashed for sketchy performance when warm as well.

turbos cars that run rich sometime foul plugs. I reccomend changing to iridium plugs they are one step colder and u can get 4 for about 50 bux. you can order from protege garage I highly reccomend them for all of your mazda needs.
