Exhaust Hanging

Im getting about sick of how these damn shops around not being able to mount an aftermarket muffler right!!! Can someone please tell me where I can get a hold of a fairly long mounting rod (the weld on type with the large nipple at one end). I checked JC whitney and did a search on yahoo but im not coming up with much.

I dont understand why you just cant fabricate one. Hell, with the right tools you could make it yourself. I'm sure someone on here could make you one, if you cant. But literally anyone should be able to fab one of those in just a few.

I guess the nipple could be a problem, but is there another way to mount?

Thats kinda the problem. I could make one with out the nipple..plenty of roll steel lying around the shop, but to actually form the nipple out of one piece would mean machining down the enitre length..itd cost more time wise to make it than to just buy one even if it was like 10 bucks. The way it's mounted now is one of those universal hangers that have the small rubber piece attaced to two hard lines then bolted to a small body seam just under the trunk...needless to say when it gets cold or after driving hard the thing will rattle, more inside than out. It's starting to drive me nuts.

Just bend the ends like a J Then when you go to put it on slide the rubber hangers on the fabbed peice first then slide over the hangers under the car. What do you think?

WAIT I just thought of a better Idea!! What if you used a threaded peice of rod? Then you could use washers and nuts in place of the nubs! But make sure to use a little Lock-Tite on the nuts or they may come off.

Either one would work and be fairly easy to do, you choose! :D

Try Midas or Mieneke. Hey, I just noticed you are in Suffolk, I used to live in Newport News, actually, I have a house there still.
