Exchanging a vehicle

CX-5 GS FWD
Good morning,

I'm in a weird situation (though not unique) where I'm splitting up with the GF, selling the house and obviously I also want to return the CX-5 for something less expensive (ie: bottom model mazda 3).

I have a 2014 model with only 24,000KM on it, an extra set of tires on wheels, I added all weather carpet everywhere (including the trunk) and also a hitch.

Am I better off selling it myself or try to get the dealer to take it back , pay my loan and maybe get a bit of a rebate on the next Mazda since I've added some stuff to the vehicle?

Thanks !

I doubt it would be an "exchange". It would be a trade-in and you'll probably get crushed on the dollar amount. Unless you put a good chunk down up front, I think you're better off trying to sell it or maybe keeping it if that's an option.

hi i,m near Montreal myself and just bought a GS 2014 3 weeks ago ,do you have winter tire for sale if yes what brand do you have

i don't know if canada has craigslist, but it is free to list a car for sale. ebay has a free listing for classified (non-auction), too.

you're going to lose money either way, but you'll probably lose more on a trade-in. there are tools online for valueing your car. kbb, edmunds, autotrader.

explore your options. take it to a dealer and see. hopefully you have a little time to work out the best option for you.

Damn you have your GF as your Co-Mortgagor on a house? that is a bigger issue than the CX-5 my friend.

Look into selling it on Autotrader yourself, dealer will most probably **** you over like she did (or maybe it was the other way around, what do I know) just saying you'll get more money out of a private sale and make sure they come with a cashiers check. Good luck to you man.
