Excessive Wheelspin - Almost no traction

Wow, first time i have seen this when the guy is driving a Protege!

Sounds like it's time to get better tires to me, and ease on the gas a little smoother

when i read the thread title i figured one of the noob speed3 guys had wandered into the wrong forum lol.

I'm glad to see that I wasn't the only one wondering this. My wagon does this all the time, mostly when I'm trying to turn. It's always spinning the inside tire. It was surprising because it's not as if the car has too much power. I've had cars with much more power that wouldn't do this. Does it have something to do with the suspension design?

When I'm in a jam and I need to get in front of someone, I've noticed that I can't ever get a quick start because I get tons of wheelspin and I end up just sitting there spinning my tires.

This is the first time I've owned a 4dr car and therefore my first "wagon".

I'm curious - is this normal?

How do you know for sure that it's spinning the inside tire? Are you able to see it while you are driving???

you cant spend the inside tire on a car with an open diff.

the cars weight is on the inside tire, the tire you would spin would be the outisde, as there is less weight on that side.

your issue is the open diff in this car.

Left turn, weight on right front tire; right turn weight on left front. I Have always believed the inside wheel means the wheel inside the turn? I agree with the open differential being the cause but I don't agree the weight is on the inside wheel.

I agree that the open diff is part of the problem. But it seems to happen more on this car? I used to have a turbo Integra with open diff and didn't experience it nearly as much as on this car.

yeah im confusing myself.

i have it backwards. either way the open diff is the culprit.
