Evo gets *****!!

oh...my apologies then. I can sympathize in that case because I used to have an Aprilia......then I got the R6 and found those boards were horrible because of all the young kids with R6's talking stupid smack all the time.....I found the Aprilia forums to be a little more mature and to my liking :)
 
I caught the exageration, I did not even sound like the evo was trieing. I can see the horsepower arguement. I don't hate either car. I just think they are both ugly honestly (my opinion). The guy in the SRT-4 definitely got a nice launch and even give the EVO a considerable start on the last race. Just seemed unreal not discounting that mods couldn't make it happen. :cool:
 
Yeah, I saw the exageration too, it was like on the 1-2 shift of the last race the guy in the Evo missed a shift or just totally let off the gas and bogged it or something... he really didnt know how to drive.

That video was made in Tampa, I know where they were racing, its really popular because its a 9 mile long bridge with no shoulders, so no place for cops to hide USUALLY. Sometimes those suckers get dropped off on the side of the road at the top of the main bridge, and hide with a radar gun... when they clock u, they radio to the end of the bridge for their partners to nap u. But I guess the racers take one pass at the limit to look for cops, and then u-turn at the end and race back if the coast is clear. of course... if u wreck there, u r screwed, only cement and water to hit.

One more thing, I agree on the maturity of the forums. I have lurked a bit on the Spec V and Civic forums, and lets just say the intelligence level just isnt up to this forum's level. Its like they mostly want to brag on thier cars and trash anything else out there. MOST people here are way more accepting of other makes of cars. The Civic forum was the funniest though, this one 17yo kid went on for like pages about how his mom bought him a 2002 Civic Si and he was so pissed cause he thinks its ugly and he wanted a Civic EX coupe... he claimed the salesman ripped his mom off for the more expensive car and he hates it, hates driving it, etc, but she wouldnt take it back, she INSISTS that he keeps it and learns to like it. Why cant I have a mom like that?!?!?!

Your point may have been proven, but please don't tell me you actually believe that the SRT's wheel horsepower is HIGHER than the crank HP when in fact it's just "underrated" by dodge. It's probably closer to what, 240 ish at the crank stock?

Finally... in the first race, the guy in the EVO started in second gear while the neon was in first... you could hear him say it... and in the second and third race, he shifted WAYYY TOOO SOON!!! Maybe he's just a dumbfukc.

Let me drive that car, and it would be much closer. I hate bad drivers.

First off I'm on the boards to research the MSP for my wife. We don't own one yet. I'm just trying to find out what's up in the MSP world. What problems (if any) to expect, what to mod, and generally how much you guys like your cars...

In saying that here the SRT's mods:


MBC- was not dialed in so the car was running stock boost

ED Exhaust - with test pipe and no tips

Rage Upgraded turbo- its a stock turbo modified a bit (bigger compressor wheel and ported)

Prototype IC - very small end tanks were fitted for fear of tight fitment but later was found they could be made bigger but only if bumper support is removed

neonparts.net motor mounts - firm but surprisingly give lil indication of being so

Wastegate Actuator - similar to AGP

Phantom Grip LSD - first car with it period

all in all about $1000-1250 invested money well spent if you ask me

not to drag this out but having a sig that disses our car doesn't help. I mean come on....Ford makes a pickup that can dust all of our cars but who in the hell wants to drive one? More displacement and a few spare quarts of oil and you can make any POS domestic go fast.

Guys, the SRT-4 is not to be played with, they WILL eat Evo's and STI's with "proper" tuning. trust me.
I find that very funny why is it that people r soo afraid of racing the srt4 but talk s*** about it! redrims i couldnt see the clip could u send pm me the site for it thanks

it's the mini-viper or the fwd-viper in dodge's lineup. That's how they're marketing it. And dodge wanna keep it that way too. Their marketing ploy is grab life by the horn and extreme sport, so the speedness of srt4 fits the bill.

on the other hand, mazda is zoom-zoom. msp fits that cuz it can zoom-zoom thru the twisties.

and yea a domestic can light all these imports up, no replacement for displacement.

To look at these #'s you can acutally see that the SRT-4 Stock is faster than the Evo From a rolling start 30 - 50 mph. With the SRT-4 (slightly modded who knows what that means.) It will be faster for sure, especially when the evo driver doesn't know how to drive. With that kind of head start that the Evo got on the last run you would be amazed at how slow it is if it bogs. At lower speed's theres a gap between the throttle application and full turbo boost.

It's all driver my man.....I'd race SRT's all day long in my MSP. The times in the the car mags between an MSP and an SRT during a 1/4 mile is 10th's of seconds.......good/bad driving can make up that difference all day long. Same with the SRT and EVO. Once you start throwing mods in on one or the other then it's not a fair comparo.....I mean there's a guy that brings an old Pinto to the Auto-X events around here and he dusts EVERYTHING !

It looks like the Evo guy is a turd driver....

but I don't see why it'd be so far fetched for an SRT-4 to be faster than an EVO with just a few mods... :D

Personally I think it'd be kind of cool if these things lasted a long time too, just to piss off all those people who were shouting about "you're going to blow a headgasket" . I guess time will tell. I'll stick with my mazda for now though :D

I really don't know why people think domestics are POS. I have not had one problem with my TA except trying to keep the grin off my face when I mash the gas. Yes I like other cars too...so I'm not trolling. In fact I think right not the MSP is the front runner for my new daily driver. Going to check out a 03 tomorrow. I test drove a 03.5 today and it definitely was fun to drive and handled great. Ohh and if you have ridden in Ford Lightning you may change your mind about them. Doesn't Ford and Mazda have a partnership anyway?
 
believe me, I'd be the 1st in line to buy domestic if they were any good.....the fact remains they have horrible build quality, horrible customer sat ratings, amazing number of recalls, and overall are about 10 years behind the rest of the world. My father was a sales manager for many car dealerships and I grew up working at dealers and then at rental car places through college. Plus I have to rent domestics occaisonally for work.......there is a night a day difference. I could tell blindfolded if I was in a domestic just by turning the key. They are just crap for the most part....I really don't know how else to say it....and the facts back it up.

That being said though I'd own a Z06 Corvette right now......best bang for the buck you can buy....as long as you keep a few quarts of oil under the seat :)
 
FOrd is a 1/3 owner and basicly an overseeing eye and voice on mazda.

Shitting on domestics because they are domestic is just typical rice boy banter and have no factual base.
Example Mecedes Benz, BMW and VW have had alot of reliability complaints for year as have a ton of other cars.
The only company that does well religiously is Toyota and Honda (Lexus and Acura too). Even they hav had there issues now and again. Many people still don't trust Mitsubishi, mnay more find it hard to believe the number of problems with the MSP. The Sentra goes through trannies CONSTANLY!
Yet today I met a customer that just got his new neon from trading in his last one with over 175,000 miles on it.
