Quick story before my dealer recommendation:

I brought my 3.5 in for the reflash this morning. I started to get worried when I didn't hear anything until late this afternoon. Well, as I'm normally an old cynic, I was actually happy with what the svc. mgr told me (I asked them to check the coolant leak):

1) The car won't be ready until tomorrow. We had to order a coolant hose. :)
2) Post re-flash, we found a few faulty vacuum hoses. This might be why some of you have experienced some stalling. Replaced under warranty.
:)

NEVER have I had a dealer's svc dept. correct other things without saying a word. VERY happy with:

Town North Mazda
Richardson, TX (between Spring Valley & Arapaho on I-75)
972-231-6370 (ask for Mike - businesslike, but very cool guy)

I called Town North and Talked to MIke adn he said that He didnt know what I was Talking about and He Had not gotten a bulletin about that.

Flash dealer in Central PA?

.. I was wondering if anyone knows of a Mazda dealership in the Central Pennsylvania area that's already aware of the flash?

I purchased my MSP at Faulkner Mazda in Philly -- which, as I've seen, already knows about the flash. Unfortunately, I won't get back into the Philly area until the middle of October .. and I can't wait that long!!

I called up the 'local' Mazda Dealership here, in State College (y'know, Penn State!) -- Rider -- but the guy on the phone sounded clueless. He said I'd have to talk with the service manager, but he was in a meeting.

So, if worse comes to worse, I'll be a pain in the ass and throw all the information at the service manager at Rider .. but I'd prefer to go to a dealership that already knows what they're doin', as I ALSO have to get my alarm system fixed and the left side of my rear skirt resecured (it's coming loose).

I guess I'm just a LITTLE overprotective of my MSP. I don't want to take it to a dealership that doesn't have a clue about MSPs and how to work with 'em.

So I have an appointment to get my car flashed on monday (and get a new sub) but Im not too confident that these guys have the update... I have a feeling they are just going to re-flash it with the original version.

Is it possible they got the update on a CD? because i've asked the guy several times and he keeps telling me that they dont download anything and to not worry they have "the latest version". :bs:

My dealer said the same thing...they don't like to download the updates because they've had problems in the past doing so. My dealer waited for the CD to arrive in the mail, updated the machine, and then flashed my car (my car was the first to be flashed).

It's comforting to know that it's gone out on the CDs already...
Hopefully thats true in Canada too... If so, then maybe they do have the update.. (dunno)

Guess I'll find out on monday.

Unless something has changed that I missed, the dealerships will get a CD that will UPDATE THEIR WDS MACHINE TO THE LATEST VERSION. THEN they need to download the latest "patch" for that version --- meaning they DO need to download something even if they received a CD. I'd be worried.

Yeah, Browning Mazda, which is part of the largest auto mall in the world.... in the Cerritos Auto Square. HELLO!!!!! lol. Thats where i bought my MSP.

Well ive had the flash for a week now and i can still feel some hesitation. Very minimal though. The powerband is a lot smoother over all which is good. I am kind of wondering why mazda didnt want to fix the fuel map. Im thinking that advancing the timing was just the easiest way for them to fix things and get it over with. I had my Injen CAI in for the first few days of the flash, thinking it would lean things out... wrong. I also thought the Injen was giving me more power, but i installed the stock airbox back in again today and the car seems to run exactly the same. I think that the noise the CAI puts out is having a psychological effect on peoples perception of power. I really dont think it does much, but hey, thats just my humble opinion.

My dealer downloaded the update and it would not work, they are getting the CD today and I get the flash on Sat.

Got mine - it IS all that.

Sansone Mazda in Woodbridge NJ is excellent - knew about the MSP issues and took care of me - even provided breakfast in their cafeteria!

You'll be able to tell if the car does NOT hesitate between 2800 and 5000 RPM.

How about an Update by some of the first people with the Flash to see if everything is still fine and nothing new came up

Ok got mine done this morning. Made a 6 km drive to work in traffic and the remnants of hurricane Isabel, and it is definitely noticeable.
Gyro Mazda were good to their word, it took about 1 hr to get it done.
The hesitation/bogging at 3000-3500 rpm is gone, it feels alot better. I did notice a slight hesitation at about 4500 rpm, but i'll need to drive more to be sure.
All in all. I'm happy for now.
