Engine Stutter at 3500 rpm's

IMHO is it's all about boost. The mods listed above all help smooth the car out because they add more boost. Get rid of the fuel cut and bump the boost up and the car runs better.

In a way I kinda disagree. I think engine management is the way to go. This was one of the first things that I did and it definitely made the biggest difference so far. Had unichip and otherwise stock msp, no hesitation, engine stutter, etc. Oh and by the way, that was without the boost controller installed, so I was at like 6.0 psi.

I agree

^^ You guys are both right.

Raising boost will help since it leans out the air/fuel ratio. But you have no way of knowing how it is doing without either a wideband or several dyno runs where you can compare air/fuel graphs.

But getting some sort of EMS will do it in a safe way that you actually can control.

What I was trying to say was that many of the mods people spend large dollars for make the car feel better because they bump the boost up. I'm not saying a FMIC or a Free exauhst isn't going to make the car feel better. I'm just saying the main reason they feel better is from the added boost. Mazda has the car tuned like it was going to run more boost. If you bump the boost up regardless of how you do it the car will run better. Yes if you want to run stock boost and tune the car for 6 psi I'm sure it runs better It just is a very expensive way to make the car run better. If someone plans to spend lots of cash more power to them.
