I'll have to agree that this needs a sticky, I knew i've seen it before but I couldn't remember where for the life of me.

Just bought a 03 P5 motor for my MSP build. I had a few questions:
1. Will I need the main cap support plate to be installed on the shortblock before I can mount and balance the crank and bearings?
2. On a 03 p5 head are the intake and exhaust cams going to work with the MSP turbo setup?

I am trying to build the donor motor as much as possible before pulling mine out of the car. I thought I would be able to have the donor motor it ready to go so I can pull mine and replace it with the other but after talking to the machine shop I am not so sure. Any advice is greatly appreciated!!!!

1. No. The crank goes in first, then the MBSP, then the oil pan. Also, the MSP MBSP has a fitting for the oil return. You can use the MSP part (protegegarage.com), modify your MBSP, or modify your oil pan.
2. The cams will be fine.
