Engine rattle

I recently switched engine oil from Mobile 1 synthetic to Amsoil 0-30W synthetic, and I notice that when I first start up my 03 MP5 now, there is a 1-2 second "rattle" in the engine. It almost sounds like a sloppy piston or something. It has also started getting cold here in VA, and I haven't owned or driven this car in cold weather yet, so don't know if this is just a normal cold weather engine noise. Any info out there? Thanks.

OK, I'm an idiot, I should have done a search on this before I posted. I found plenty of discussion already on the forum. No need to answer this.

My '03 MP5 does the same thing since it was purchased in '05 w/23k on it. I live in Richmond. Cold weather always causes that little rattle but it goes away quickly. Engine now has 47k - no problems. I wouldn't worry about it.

You might want to worry about it if you haven't had the VICS recall performed on the intake if you have certain VIN numbers on 03s. Screws actually fall out of the butterflies & get sucked into the motor killing plugs, scratching up cyl walls or worse depending on what speed the motor is turning when it happens. People have had to have whole motors replaced. A lot of these happened around 40k mileage too. Just search on recall, there's complete info floating around in here. Good luck.
