Is it normal for the (turbo) engine in the 09 CX-7 to race when I start it up cold? If I don't let it idle for about a minute or 2, it jerks when I shift into reverse to get out of the garage.

its normal
its to warm up the engine as fast as possible... you can start and go, but it's not recommended... just wait a minute for the idle to go down before you go!

Yeah. I noticed that on my wife's 09 CX-7. It starts and rev's pretty high, but calms down after a few seconds.

I was worried at first, but it seems to be normal operation.

thanks

Great....I was hoping I would not have to go to the dealer for that. I just got the car a month ago.

My '07 usually calms down (to ~ 1k) after about 30 seconds, so I decided not to wait this long every single time.

My CX7 starts at ~ 2,200 RPM. after a few seconds I tap the accelerator and it drops to ~ 1,500 and slowly drops to 900 when I shift into gear . I get no joy in abusing my cold transmission by, dropping into gear at 2 K RPM because I am impatient or too important to care.
