engine hesitation Mazda P5

one half? The boot often 'slides off' the plug wire...with pretty much any brand, but did it break in half or something? As brian said; wires are wires on an other wise stock p5...none of them will last forever...and all of them will last 75k miles plus, and thats being pessimistic...if the rubber boot simply slid 'up' on the wire and connector...just push it back down...

The rubber boot apparently has 2 sections and on the champions they are held together with a silicon type substance and when I pulled up on it to get at plugs it just ripped the silicon and separated. but you can just push the top half and it will seat itself back on the lower section BUT you will never get the plugs out again (boom05)lol

well maybe not never, but with some persuation, one way may be to take manifold cover off or ,use a wire to hook it out of hole, or put some type of glue or silicon on the upper half and seat it on the lower half and let it dry,may work or long needle nose plyers

I am new here but am having similar problem with my 02 p5. when at idle in park or nuetral my car is fine but when in drive it has very low idle and wants to stall. Also when driving i can't go faster than 40mph, it just studders and wants to stall when i am at a stop. it has a code for the upper 02 sensor and also fuel pressure regulator. I tested the 02 sensor and seems fine but not the fpr. I just replace the coils, the plugs were done recently. I do have an issue with the cast iron exhaust pipe rotting away but wouldn't think that would cause it. i was told the likely problem is my pre cat converter but not sure. any help would be greatly appreciated

The mechanic also told me that they have no way of testing anything if it doesn't throw a code or if it isn't acting up at the time they have it. Is this true or are they just trying to rip me off? But ya any help on possible solution would be amazing.

... they should be able to test some things without codes. I'de find another mechanic, sounds like they're lazy and just interested in selling you parts you may not even need.
