Engine Block for 2003 MSP

:
2002 MazdaSpeed
I need a block for a 2003 MPS. What cars have the same engine block and is it a 100% swap? Any modifications to the block?
Thanks

You can use the standard FSDE block or upgrade to blocks from PG or Street Circuit with forged parts.

you just need the stock block? I have one ill sell you, not sure what shipping would be like though. im in GTA canada.

Ok, well some of you are going to laugh, but I have done a lot of research on these options. Depending on what you are doing, you don't have to spend a ton of money on a new block.

Option 1: get a block from the salvage yard b/c they're cheap and easy to find, usually between $200-500. These motors can be found in all 2001 & up proteges (duh), ford probe 93-97 2.0L, and the laughing one a KIA sportage (not sure what years though, probably late 90's of early 00's).

Option 2: order a JDM complete motor. If you're building a motor, then higher compresion and difference between the US and JDM versions won't matter & you'll have the upgraded intake & exhaust cams plus a whole lot of other spare parts. I have found these before from $500-800. www.jdmenginescorp.com is a good place to look. Good prices and resonable shipping rates.

Honest I would seriously consider one of the two options and save your money for the for forges internals, and have a builder who is LOCAL with GOOD reputation build it for you. That way you have a direct point of contact should anything go wrong. Its a much bugger hassle trying to get a problem resolved when the other party is out of state. I am speaking from personal experience on this matter. Hope that info helps.

Thank you for your help.

Several of you mentioned PG? Being new to the forum, not sure who PG is. If they have a website, please provide.

So are the Protege and Probe 2.0 blocks a 100% swap? Also, I am thinking of building the motor myself with forged parts if it will save me money. What are the recommended Rods and Pistons? It seems as though the weak link to these motors are the rods.

Thanks again for the help.

Many people mention the FSDE block. I am assuming this is an engine block code, correct? Is the FSDE also in the Ford Probe?

I found a 2.0 Ford Probe. Is the head the same? I assume the intake and cams are different.

As to why the engine threw a rod. I have no idea because I bought the car from a guy with the thrown rod. I assume over reving. Looking at the rods on the forum, I can understand why.

Thank you for all that responded.
