EMS question.

i've seen guys aroiund here with D16 civics pull something like .75 to 1 degree per lbs of boost.. is this about right? shoudl there be a rpm setpoint i should start pulling timming off? like maybe from 5K and up or something?

not that simple. you really need to put it on a dyno w/ a knock amp to see how much timing to pull. so you can have as much timing as possible w/o detonation.

pulling timing blindly per boost can negate much of power the boost added.

and since im in the stone age over here.. not so simple. (uhm)

And dude you NEED at least 91 octane, or you're gonna be pulling SO much timing you'll make no power. Or you'll make power right before you shoot a piston through the hood.

the 91 octane i have and use.. don't worry :)

im willing to get something with timming pulling but i might be limited to where i can go to tune it.. thats the problem..

if there was someway to get a unchip with a map that would go well with al my mods, i'd buy it in a second.

as for AFC V3 with timming control, i'd take one.. and i will have a wideband on.. but that won't be enough to self tune it i believe.. as for the dyno here.. i pretty sure they won't be able to do much exept give me the WHP..

if AFC V3 comes with a custom map that retards timming and it gives out good results.. at least i can start with that.. but even then, i still dont have the tools and knowledge by myself to do this.

like some members in canada bought a unichip..what did you guys do? i dont believe Sam makes house calls to canada lol

did you get a custom map shiped with it that would be pretty much in the bulls eye with your mods?

Depending on how aggressively you want your Unichip tuned, you should be able to get away with just using 92 octane. But of course .. 93 octane is always best.

But sending it to JDM Sam is probably your best bet. Just make sure to include a list of all your mods and what grade of gas you typically use so that he knows what he's working with.

does HE sell some unchips ?

i guess im gonna have to ask him first before i buy such a thing.

yes he does. www.*************.com

So once again where the **** is Arvida?!?!

LOL

Arvida is 200 km north east of Quebec city

Arvida is technically no longer a city as it was merged with 2 other cities and it changed name.

but since i was here when it was called Arvida to begin with, and everyone still call it that, then i do too :)

it was founded by an american a loooong time ago

back to the subject!!! (uhm)

bad, so is it some whistlestop town i nthe middle of nowhere? That's cool you're canadian too, eh? Are you a seperatist?

i got family in Ottawa and San Diego Ca. i speak english (not too bad) in a place where only 15% speak english..

so the answer is no ;)

back to the subject,

how do i tune timming this if i buy AFC V3 ? can it be done with a wideband?

unichip, i pm'ed JDM SAM and wait for his answer.

im more than willing to have timming control.. just dont know what do to tune it right.

Off the top of my head (someone who has experience tuning please chime in), there is definitely one area in the powerband where you want to pull some timing. I think it's where we achieve our max tourque. I can't tell you exactly where this is in the power band. I think it's 2500-4500. I don't exactly know, though.

That's where I'm going to look first when I start tuning in the spring.
