emergency brake

Does anyone know if the emergency brake should always be used when car is parked ??? Someone told me it's good tonsure at all times

I do not on level ground. On any incline, I set the emergency brake first and then put it in Park. revers order when ready to drive off. Just my way. O-yes, when I lived in the area when there is freezing weather, I didn't us the E-brake. Ed

(iagree)
Use the emergency brake at subzero temperatures is not recommended in order to avoid freeze-up of pads to brake discs.

I don't think freeze-up of the pads to the disc is a big deal, but rather the line itself freezing inside the metal conduit if water/snow etc got splashed up there.

^^ with that being said, always used my parking brake in my old standard car in all sorts of weather, never had an issue.

I have a manual and a sloped driveway. I use the parking brake everyday and it gets plenty cold here. NO problems with it freezing tight. I had an old Ranger 5 speed that after a wet, slushy drive I wouldn't be able to use the parking brake since the springs and brake mechanism (rear drums) would freeze solid. The Cx-5 and my Mazda 6s prior are better protected and I've had no concerns.

I use my parking brake any time I park my car whether it's +35C or -35C. Never had an issue. Always have on all my past standard cars as well.
