eibach

Yea the tread wear on the inside of the tire would be worse...no this is my transportation, not a race car. How much does a camber kit cost?

I don't know if they're even available yet. You'll have to look around.

was interested in the D2's myself. was wondering why the price was so much lower. i am a little leary b/c i could'nt find anything on a google search. just more products not an actual website. though from what i did read people were happy with them, nissan and toyota seem to be the major players...??... prob just get the springs... coilovers=$$ that i don't have..

DJ & Goldwi....whats your actual opinion on these or are you not really sure...I'm really interested in a set of coilovers and could use some advice....As far as price goes they are alot less than the Teins, but I know Tein makes a good product, I've yet to hear a complaint about them...I have heard nothin gabout D2's...please help

First thoughts are that they look good on paper. Features look great on paper. Then again, Kia Hyundai and Daewoo all make great cars... on paper!!!

I can't really recommend or recommend against these, simply because I have no information to go on. Could be that these are great shocks and that the company is just starting out!

I have no real doubts that these shocks will perform very well. I am only concerned about their longevity and durability.

My previous car (1988 Civic) I had Tokico Illumina's (5 way adjustable damping) and I can say that they performed as well as day one even after 5 years. Best shocks I ever had. Unfortunately, Tokico has no current plans for Mazda 3's.

The only way youre going to get good advice, is to find someone who already has these installed (and doesn't work for the company).

Tiens are reputable, but not sure if they are worth the price tag!

If you do get them, please provide feedback (cool)

The only experience I have with any coilovers is a set of JIC Magics that I put on a buddy's P5. It looked sweet as hell but it rode like a two-ton truck. The spring rates were so astronomical that the suspension wouldn't move if you sat on the fender.

I like the idea of a coilover. Having everything adjustable is cool and useful for changing race conditions but I just don't see the practicality on a daily driver. Especially not for a cool g out of your wallet. I am 100% satisfied with my Pro-Kit and don't see any reason to do anything more.

If you're planning on auto-x or something, then it might make sense for you.

How much of a drop do you get with those? I've been thinking about getting springs, but I'd be afraid I wouldn't be able to get around in the snow during the winter.

With what, springs or coilovers?

Eibach pro-kit will drop you about 1.25". Coilovers will adjust from dragging your frame on the ground to looking like a 4x4.

I appreciate the feedback guys....thanks for explaining things a little better....The opinion that Teins price doesnt really reflect their performance helped alot...Using the old saying you get what you pay for..the obvious choice would be them....I'm gonna try to find more info about the D2's and will share as soon as I do, I may end up going w/ them....I do have a good question for you guys though...One thing that looked REALLY useful and Interesting was the electronic dampening control they have for $375...it allows to adjust it from inside the car....that means the only thing you really need to remove the wheels for is ride height, right??? Can anyone please put their 2cents in on this???? Thanks so much!!!!

This option was also available to me with my Tokico Illumina's. I didn't bother because I really didn't adjust my shocks very often. The convenience of being able to adjust your shocks on the fly electronically is certainly a coo, feature. I would say if you can afford it, go for it. It will require additional labor to install as wires would have to be run to all 4 shocks, and have to mount a control module somewhere.

I only adjusted the damping before and after a long trip... or whenever I was in the mood for an extra soft or extra firm ride. Adjustable shocks let you play around with relative damping and you can increase/decrease oversteer/understeer depending on how much of a difference you have between the front and rear damping. (cool)

I think I'm babbling now... All in all, think of it like power windows, Sure you could roll them up and down manually, but isn't it nice to press a button/switch instead. Just keep in mind that after you get the shocks setup the way you like them, youre probably not going to be adjusting them daily. (shrug)

Thats great feed back....and I like the example of the power windows...
I also see what you mean by once you find the setting you want yo wont change it...I was thinking it would be more useful for the switch between daily driver and weekend warrior..basically you find the setting you like for daily use, and then the setting for racing use....and whenever you want you can switch either way.....I'm not lazy or nothing, but it just seems like a lot of hastle to take off all 4 wheels, adjust all 4 corners, and then replace the wheels....espescially by yourself, with a jack and 2 hands...Plus i think you'd really use the coilovers to the full potential if you could just dial it in....

Here's a tough question...does anyone know if you can mix and match these things....for example..Buy the D2's for $925, but buy the Tein controller for $375 and use them together??? If anyone can confirm this I will get this setup within the next 2 weeks or so and will post FULL details...It'd be good for alot of people b/c the only 3 companies out now is Mazdaspeed($2,000), Teins($1400-still not out just yet), and D2's ($925)...thats a big price diff!
