Ebay Foglights

Both links are for universal fog lights... neither of them are made specifically for the P5. If either would fit, I would give link #2 a better chance, since it looks like it might actually have a chance of mounting in the stock location. As for quality... just get some OEM fog lights.

I have the ones in the first link. I changed the bulbs for 3000K hid, it's bright! downfall is can't mount them to stock location. so I took off the stock bracket out of the way and cut a small section off the front bumper directly on top of where the fog lights go to mount them on the bumper reinforcement bar. it's not a simple uninstall and reinstall how-to but for the price and effort, was well worth it.

So tell me if I got robbed today.. I just bought my P5 on Sat. It's in the garage today getting saftied / certified and the mechanic said that since the car had factory fog lights, they need to work to pass the saftey.
so $322 later for 2x fog lights, it's one step closer to getting on the road. that was from the Mazda dealer so they are OEM.
Did I get hooped?

New fogs from the dealer are not cheap. How much? Not sure, but onlinemazdaparts has them for $300 for a pair, and they are a little cheaper than a dealer, so I say that sounds about right.

It seems silly that you would need working fogs to pass safety just cause they are there, guys with the Mazdaspeed lip have to take them out, and even so, it was probably just the bulbs, I think you got ripped. Try returning them.

I'm a bit passive aggressive and tried that today.. no luck. But I saw a pair of halo style ones on ebay for $70 so I'll pick those up and sell the OEM's on ebay for giggles. - unless they look really good ;)

Why doesn't everyone know how expensive they are? I've had my OEMs in the for sale section for over a month and all I keep getting is $50 offers. I already thought I was selling mine cheaper that what I'd been seeing them go for.

Well that sucks, I assume they wouldn't take them back cause they were on the car for a bit allready? And I would stay away from the ebay fogs try and find some off of a wrecked protege, there are lots of part outs around toronto, just look on kijiji.

People are cheap. I've had mine up for months now... nothing.

I was in Harbor Freight today and ran across some Chicago Electric (Item 93904) Lights that had a similiar bracket, etc to the ones on my 2002 P5. I had been dreading shelling out $300+ for the OEM replacement fogs for some time now. Both of mine have been busted for at least 6 months. For $9.99 each, I decided to pick up a couple of the Harbor Freight specials. While they are slightly smaller than the OEM, they still fill out the holes in the bumper pretty well. The biggest part of the retro-fit was using a 1/2" nut as a spacer between the bracket and the light housing, as the bracket on the Chicago is a little shorter. The Chicago lights are actually listed for "farm equipment, trucks, utility vehicle and shock & vibration protection", but they work great....and I saved $280.00...when I think of that, they look even better!
