my string of bad luck seems to have no end this week....

first the minor accident AT the service center,

then woke up today, with a street cleaning ticket on my car.

while driving to pay the ticket, and my ebrake light keeps coming on while driving....

called the service center and the guy said to check the brake fluid... any merit to that?

The e-brake indicator also acts as a warning light for your brake system. The most common problem, as mentioned, is brake fluid level.

yea, check to see if your brake fluid thing is full. i had the same problem a few weeks ago

Like others said above. The brake light is a multi-function idiot light. It monitors the e-brake and the fluid level in your reservoir. If you are low on brake fluid, you may also want to inspect your brake pads and make sure they are good. As brake pads wear, your fluid level will tend to go down.

If that isn't the problem, Pull the brake up hard and then grab the piece of center console with the hole for the lever and pull up.

The wiring is really easy. All that happens is that the lever grounds the warning system out.

Dude, you really have some bad "car-ma" going on there. I would lock the car keys in a drawer and take a cab until your bad luck passes. :D

Well as it turns out I have a good buddy at the Sears auto center in White Plains, so he took a look at it for me, before that I did confirm that the brake fluid was low, right at the MIN line.

So he took a look under the hood and confirmed that my (our) car(s) have a Master Cylinder? That controlls both the brakes and the Clutch...so after checking the brake pads, which look very meaty, he suggested to check the clutch out....

has anyone had this issue and it ended up being the clutch?

suggestions?

after my accident the ebrake light came on.

it was the brake fluid being low. which was caused
by teh master brake cylinder being busted. everytime you
hit the brake, the master brake cylinder gushed fluid all
over the engine. BAH! I'll get my baby back one of these
days.

out of curiosity, how hard was your impact in the acident, the reason I ask is because I had a very light bump into another car (not so light that it did not push the bumper back a little)...

do you think that the master cylinder could be broken from that?
