that seems a little on the high side. only a 10% drivetrain loss? maybe.

i saw the 2.5L in a stock MX-6 pull a 145WHP over the weekend. the engine had 165 BHP which is around 12.12% DT loss......

Even a 12% loss is still 140. Adding an SRI should increase, not drop or even stay the same. Otherwise, what's the point?

Looks? Sound? Honestly, if it didn't gain just a little HP, I'm with you, what's the point in having one? To me, that's a bit too much money just for looks and sound.

should have done a base run. I mean.. it doesn't take that long to swap in the SRI and stock box. I know you can do it in less then 15 mins. :D

i am just stating that having a stock 2.3L pull 144WHP on a dyno is high!!!

You're taking my comment out of context! The full statement was

As in, what would be the point of doing the mod if it didn't enhance performance?

sorry.

i bet the intake did improve his numbers. i don't think a stock protege can pull over 130-135 WHP so he probably got a little gain out if the intake.

I'm going to try to convince a local guy to dyno his 2.3L 3 next week.
He's got the K&N CAI, I think... we'll see what he puts down on a Mustang dyno.

You do realize that he has a Mazda3, right?

a stock Protege 2.0L will never put down 135whp, it's only got 130hp at the crank. An MSP will put down close to 155whp, due to the turbo.

I too have seen dynos from stock 2.3L 3's putting down 143-145whp, which is why i asked my questions above....but 137whp seems a tad low, especially with the SRI. But i'd like to see what the curve looks like, thats more important to me.

160 BHP.......right????

i would love to see a dyno chart with a stock 2.3L putting out 144 WHP.

Right. Just wondering why you brought up the subject of a stock Protege.

I've seen dyno charts at 144. Can't remember whose they were or where I saw them but I've seen them.

Other than that, I'll just echo Solo2's comments.
