Drivebelt early failure signs

IMO Sentry is the best in the area. I've bought 3 cars there. They've always treated me very well. Of course I'm loyal and particular. The fact that Omar has a Speed is just icing on the cake. He's particular too.

I've never been to Wellesley but see no reason to bounce from dealer to dealer when I have a history with Sentry. They're a great bunch of people from sales to service.

I saw a red 08.5 MS3 last weekend getting it's snows swapped while I was getting my wife's Mz5 serviced. It had a Red Sox plate on it.

Two reasons I've stopped going there ... first its a long haul for me and second one of the sales reps told me Omar (bowdown) is against "Mod's". I'm not that I'm heavily modified.

I plan on bringing it down there to have a look after OCC meet. Just a lot going on right now.

Yeah but do you know why he doesn't like Mods?

Because he's had to clean up the mess from two particularly messy mods. I saw both of them. One was a guy who put on a larger Turbo and the other was a guy who had "installed" a boost gauge by drilling through the firewall and tapping into wiring in the engine bay. He eidn't even go through a fuse block. I saw this particular MS3 and the guy had exposed wiring sittign across the intercooler and used nothing but wire nuts and electrical tape to hold them together. It was a mess. The guy witht he turbo also cut out his cat with a hack saw andput in a "Straight pipe" Needless to say it wasn't done professionally.

I think this is why I tend to side with the dealerships when people cry that Mazda likes to void their warranty and dealers don't like to touch mods. The fact is that messes like this happen and then the mechanic is stuck cleaning it up and hoping the car will run normally.

This one MS3 guy I know in the area is heavily into Mods. And he accepts the fact that his warranty is voided. He has a Cobb system installed and did a nice job installing a new head unit with BT. He also brings his car to a professional mod shop. I think the one he said he used was EPS in Worcester. At least I think that's their name.

I do not disagree with siding with you at all! I understand why they do it. I wouldn't want my job on the line with fixing a car that is completely messed up and being responsible for something going wrong later unrelated to your work. I just wasn't sure where the guy was coming from when I was told that. I'm not heavily modified just MM and Intake and they've seen my car and have never said a word actually they've seen me at the track! One of the tech's was behind me in the staging line and he recognized me and they've still been very good to me. Nonetheless I'm side tracked. I plan on scheduling an apt with him specifically after OCC.

Sorry if I overreacted...:-)

it sounds like the same problem i had on my speed6. ended up being a loose pulley that got replaced under warrranty. try out mazda gallery in norwood as i've gotten all my warranty work done there without any questions and it's a whole lot closer than shrewsbury. i'll try to find the tsb again and post it, but my car would rattle up front on the passenger side where the pulleys are at idle especially if i had the ac on and the compressor kicked in.

that's what it sounds like. Thanks ronin.

Nope didn't over react I'm not going to make a stink about dealers. no worries.

Update

Had the loose tensioner pulley replaced. Car idles so quiet now. Unfortunately I'm beyond warranty I wish I pushed the issue 6K miles ago.
