drain hole question

Hi, I am a new P5 owner. [happily crusing for 5 days].

I have a question regarding my P5's drain holes on the door. I noticed that in the front doors, the drain holes are actually covered (see attached). Should I remove the cover? I asked the dealer and they said it's okay but I want your opinions.

I think you should be ok taking them out. I haven't heard of anyone else having theirs covered. Mine sure aren't. I'd take them out.

While they are covers, they are not plugs. They are actually little one way valves. If you notice, the door weep holes are fairly large (a good thing), and they are outside of the door seals (also a good thing). However, this makes the drains exposed to water entering the doors from the outside. The little hinged black flaps (or valve covers) are there to keep water from entering the door while allowing the water that gets in to drain out. I'd call it a nice attention to detail by the Mazda engineering folks. Jim

yep.....if all the p-5 owners would look....you would see that they are there....they are supposed to be.....leave them alone...they are fine.

oh and Charles, Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to our Club. There are TWO BIG fridge'S in the corner with anything you can think of in them...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have.

make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

One of the covers on mine fall off last week. The white piece is still attached to the door but the black flip is gone.
