2002 Protege 5 Turbo
I got this idea from forcefed. He has the downpipe offered from a local place Apex Motorsports. I emailed the guy Ben and asked about bolting this up to my protege 5. I wasn't sure then but I know now that this pipe will not fit. BUT, he asked that I come down and see what it will take to make it work. Now I plan to make this my last na mod and want to hear the good and bad of doing this. Will my car run like s***? Am I legal or will I fail a visual. This is still pretty new to me so I hope you guys can help.

The only real benfeit you will get from a pipe that bolts up to your factory manifold will be the removal of the cat's from the system which will free a little power up.You may however lose some of the low end"GRUNT" that you are used to.This would however increase the top end power that your ride will make. This is just my opinion but it is an educated one.You should be able to get around the CEL with the O2 modifier that I spoke of and it should have no adverse effects on the running of your pro!

Typically, downpipes are for turbo applications. Is this just something to remove the cat just off the header? In this case, you'd most likely fail visual. A true 4-2-1 race header would be better if you're planning on eliminating that cat.
