I have been searching for like 2 hours now for exhausts. So much info out there. I would really like ION's turbo-back but its just to expensive for me. I want to get my downpipe first. I was looking at protosports and the only thing I don't like about it is that it doesnt' come with hi-flow cats. So that basically means I have to replaced every year with my stock to pass emissions here in PA. Magnusmotorsports site is under construction so couldn' really research there. Are there any other places that make a downpipe for our car with hi-flow cats? Could I just get protosports dp and buy hi-flow cats from someone else? Also what is your guys opinions on cat-back exhausts, brands sizes and what not? Thanks

spool turbo dp should be out in a week or so. i think protosports does offer with a cat also. i would not deal with magnus had problems with them and so did a couple of others.

ion now has a 2.5" dp for sale. but once again, no cat(s). so far, apex motorsports is the only place to offer a dp w/ one hi-flow cat. but it's damn expensive. $400. i was thinking about getting protosport's and just pay someone to weld a cat in place for me. or i'm just gonna have someone make a dp and put a hi-flow cat in.

i was gonna go no cats until i found out my county's gonna have emissions testing starting next year :(

im plannin a no cat dp and exhast....it doesnt take long to swap the dp on our cars...just swap the stock one back in when its emission time....u do get a nice notice on when u gotta go :)

I wish there was a better definition of which pipe is which for the MSP... When I look under my car, I see a downpipe (s-pipe) then a mid-pipe (with cats), and then that runs all the way to the muffler and then out the back...

If you want to do a 'turbo-back' then you'd be replacing the s-pipe... which is what I'd call a downpipe... the thing that protosport has on their site is a mid-pipe to me... and would not be a turbo-back.

I haven't seen much in the way of flow testing of anything on this car. Someone said the s-pipe wasn't bad at all and not worth replacing.... Clearly Ion thought it was restrictive because their product replaces it. You'll have to search to find answers here... and spend a lot of time reading through crap to get any info.

Or, you can go to a reliable, performance-oriented muffler shop, get them to fabricate a new exhaust system, and hope for the best. That's what I'm doing. I'll dyno before and after to see if it's a waste of money and post back here. However, that won't be for another couple of months.... maybe Feb at this point. I'm lucky that I know a shop that has a lot of turbo expertise and does mandrel bending and uses stainless... etc.

Good luck.

yeh im doin the same carl, several custom exhuast shops around me dont do mandrel bent piping so i had to look elsewhere.

Where can I see apex motorsports dp with hi-flow cat. I went to apexmotorsports.com and I don't think thats the web-site I wanted. Could you please give me the exact URL.

How does the apexmotorsports catless DP with their catback exhaust for the MSP compare with Ion's turboback exhaust?....and would apex's be considered a turboback exhaust system as well?

Oh yea, and they offert ehir catback section in 2.5" or 3".... so what about the downpipe seciton, is taht only offered in 2.5". if so would the diff in dp piping and catback piping affect performance?

spoolup - our turbo-back exhaust starts right off the turbo, and is a full 3" system. All the flanges are 3" as well so it doesn't bolt onto stock components. The two cast pieces are replaced with a 1-piece down-pipe. Turbo lag is non-existant with our set-up.

The other "down-pipe" we're offering comes from our line of doing cat-delete pipes for the P5 and MP3. It will not give you as much power as our true turbo-back system.

one more thing... Ignore the spelling errors. Got a little too excited.

Wow that was fast, thanks.... How is the stock looking?... are there anymore complete turboback systems left or would I have to wait for the next batch?

spoolup - the systems are generally done to spec, so if you ordered now, delivery will be around the 2nd week of January b/c of all the holidays.
