Downpipe questions...

So after arguing with all the local shops about not being able to bend 3 inch pipe for a custom exhaust and even the diesel performance shop telling me they wont touch my car I still havent given up. My new idea is to buy a cheap downpipe and have them make me a custom exhaust that goes straight back with no bends. My question is what do you think of this downpipe: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Down...fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories#ebayphotohosting

$285 shipped to the door. Can't beat that and it helps since im on a very tight budget being in college and all haha.

Are you really going to chance putting ebay parts on your car? I say save your money for now.

Do you have a test pipe? If not, consider one of those first.

CEL's will make you wish you'd never seen eBay parts. For anything related to engine/power go with parts you can trust from reputable companies. Just because they sell it, doesn't mean it works well.

Also, if you're going to go as far as a bendless 3" exhaust for this car, you might as well look at a catless, divorced downpipe as well. If you research the divorced downpipe design and you will see you stand at least as much to gain by separating the exhaust from the wastegate from the exhaust from the turbine itself.

Usually it costs more to have a shop custom it for you than just buying the part from a company. The company already did the R&D for it, and it will be cheaper in the long run over trying to get a guy to bend something for you.
