ok here i go again! ive tried both the rx7 and rx8 forum and no luck!! come on guys prove you are smarter than them!!! (kiddin i promise)

any of you have a female dog? mine is about 11 months old and i think she is starting to go into heat (for the first time) after she pee's she has blood dripping off of her. and ive noticed on the sheet that is in their cage there is blood drops on it. i tried buying one of those diaper things from petsmart with the velcro on it. well shes a smart lil b**** and she pulled it off, i even put a big baby safety pin through the velcro part and she got that off and started chewing on it (not so smart) anyways i also tried putting it on my boy dog, her brother, so he couldnt hump her... well she got it off of him too. anyways now im kinda stuck, i dont want blood everywhere and im running low on ideas.

any of you have female dogs who arent fixed that bleed? what do you use to 'cover' it? or keep it from dripping. im thinking about getting some granny panties and putting that on her and just cutting a hole for her tail and maybe putting a pad in there or something but im sure she would find a way to get that off too.. ANY IDEAS?

btw sorry if this post grossed you out! i really need some help with this though...

seriously.. both your dogs should be fixed, that's the correct answer.

get off your ass and fix them both. If they are breeding dogs, seperate them and start breeding, cuz she's ready... otherwise, you have NO good reason for not spaying/neutering them both.

Really doubt there is anything you can do to keep her from bleeding, it is natural and should be allowed. The most you can do is put here somewhere that is easy to clean up etc. She doesn't seem to want anything wrap around here but you could try maybe putting a Halo around her neck. Though that will often piss dogs off to.

Really if you aren't planning on getting her fix then you will need to setup a area where she can sit this out.
It would be best though since there are more turmor issues with female dogs that aren't fixed.

actually i have a really good reason for not fixing either one of them... NO $$$ and for another thing its not good to breed a dog (if thats what im going to do, not sure yet) the very first time they go into heat!

and i know its natrual for her to bleed.. i was asking for ideas on how to cover it.. like another form of a diaper that is hard for her to get off... shes a pretty smart dog...

and matthew any ideas on what to make one out of?

no offense, but you should have thought about fixing them before you got them, no?

If you don't plan on doing anything, the Remillers's suggestion is the only answer that seems fit, other than duct-taping the diaper to the female or gluing a condom to the male.
Just stick her outside or in a garage, or basement.. somewhere easy to clean up after cuz she'll just keep bleeding until she's done.

no offense but i had a job when i got them and didnt plan on losing my job... you really arent being helpful, infact you are comming across as VERY rude!

and my back yard isnt fenced in... and im not worried about putting a condom on my male dog... he hasnt tried mounting her since shes been bleeding and when he used to try before she went into heat he was just humping not 'excited' and i seperated them.. so thats not the issue...

im not trying to be a b**** but you are comming off as an asshole...

again.. matthew.. any ideas on what to make it out of?

i generally am an asshole - your observation is keen.
I could have gone on a rant about your situation, but i didn't.

Sucks that you're stuck where you are... but like I said, stick her in the basement, TIE her outside until you have money or until she's done her first round of 'heating'. Your town should have a Spay and Neuter clinic, no? Many of them actually have financing plans for people that are in situations such as yourself.

i have her in a cage but she splatters blood... i dunno, i was just hoping to get some ideas on what to stick over her butt and whatnot.. its gonna cost like 100 bucks or something for each of them. but im not exactly sure if i want to get them fixed.. they are full breed boxers, very pretty and healthy.. so i havent made a decision yet..

thank you guys for the ideas...

Kevlar! Carbon Fiber? Chrome!!!

Nah, just get one of those cones for your dogs head - that with the diaper and you should be ok. She's going to whimper alot at first, then she'll just lay down alot and be misreable. Why not just keep her in the bathroom or something?

Look you have to choice, plain and simple.

1)Get them both fixed

2)You need to keep her in a seperate kennel until its over with, there isn't much you can do about it. Whatever you put on her she will take off.

How big is your dog? Is she a large or x-large breed. I'm not being sarcastic here and you might want to ask a vet first but maybe tampons?

im not gonna shove a tampon in my baby!!! lol... shes a large breed dog but shes not very big... i guess ill just have to check with my vet or something...

thank you guys for the ideas

I used to just leave my b**** (proper term in this case :-P) in the kitchen with a doorway gate so she couldn't get out. That worked because the kitchen was that plastic linoleum material that didn't stain. Then I'd just mop it. Sound gross but it was all I could think to do. Eventually I ended up getting her fixed when I finally remembered. (I'd always forget until she started bleeding, and you can't do it when she's bleeding).

Look on the bright side. At least she doesn't bleed every month like human females.

no i think she bleeds for like 21 days every 6 months.... but i have tile in the kitchen and the grout is white.. and that stuff stains.. otherwise id do that lol.... shes just gonna have to stay in her cage.. but i still want to put something over her ass because i dont want it on the carpet when she shakes her body... (the cage is on wood floor, but there is carpet like a foot away from it... wierd i know... anyways like i said thanks.. and you guys were much more of a help than the rx7 and rx8 guys...

Ohhh btw just a bit of Heloise advice reguarding blood stains.......Blood stains can be easily removed from all sorts of surfaces including carpet and clothing with Hydrogen Peroxide (the stuff you use to clean wounds not bleach hair). Learned that one from the nurses at my mom's dialysis clinic.

You can buy the cones at just about any pet store, or a vet will have some on hand. For a boxer it maybe about 20-30 bucks for them.
And I wouldn't suggest a tampoon lol. Unless you tie the string about her tail..lol

How many times did you try the diaper though? It may take her sometime to get use to, cause she'll also try to tear the cone off. Don't worry cause the cones are very hard for them to get off, but they eventually get use to them. So maybe if you haven't done the diapers enough she will get use to that. Also put it on her, but stay around her. If she starts to bite at it either spray her with a water gun or shake a can of pennies. These are two non-violent forms of negative measures in training some dogs of hard to break habits. (The pennies work well but then male dog will also be scared of them)

Also don't worry to much about fixing the male, she is the main concern right now. Btw boxers are cute, my girlfriend has one.
