Does the MSM Oil Cap really fit our cars???

I decided to order a MSM oil cap from Mazdastuff after I saw the group buy for it on this forum. I didn't want to wait so I just decided to get it from Mazdastuff since they are located in Austin and I'm in Houston(should get here pretty quickly). Anyway I just received this email from Richard at Mazdastuff:

"I received your order No. 10589. I have that oil cap in stock. I noticed you listed your car as a Mazdaspeed Protg. That oil cap is for the Mazdaspeed Miata. I tried to make it fit on a Protg in the shop, but it wouldnt seal properly. The oil filler on the Miata valve cover is raised, where the oil filler on the Protg valve cover is flat. The Mazdaspeed oil filler cap has an overhanging edge which prevents it from sealing properly on the Protg.<?XML:NAMESPACE PREFIX = O />
Please let me know if you still want me to ship you the Mazdaspeed oil filler cap, or cancel your order.

Thanks, Richard"

So my question to those that have it is.....Does it really fit??? I don't want it to fit all ghetto rigged.

come to think there was a little oil that came out under mine once. Other than that i havent had any true issues however.

Haven't seen any leakage on mine at all. Even if there was it wouldn't be too hard to go to the hardware store and find a rubber washer that is the right size to make a better seal without sacraficing the appearance.

I just cancelled my order. I don't want to take the chance that I'll have oil leakage all over my engine. Instead I'll use the money to buy me some DaveB rings. Atleast I will see those more often.

HAHA! My soon-to-be spray painted oil cap will own all MSM oil caps! And I'll have saved some cash too.

Honda oil caps fit Mazdas.... I have a Civic cap on my MSP.

No problems here...

I got mine on last week and everything fits snugly with no leaks thus far. If you crank it on quite tightly it doesn't seem to leak and it forms a seal with the rubber gasket. I'll keep an eye on it and post if I notice any leaks.

Wait, by MSM do you mean Mazdaspeed Miata?

Of course those will fit without issue then, Mazda used like two thread patterns for the past 10 years from what I've seen. One being the same (rather very close to) Honda, and I think some of the rotarys use Toyota style...

I guess the issue isn't about how it threads. It's about the seal. I think it's hilarious that one person saying there might be a problem with the seal causes so many people to decide that it definitely won't fit no matter how many people who do own them say otherwise. lol.

It's all good though. Like H-Town decided, there are definitely better mods that could be bought with the same money. Besides, I won't have to worry about every Protege having the same oil cap as me at Hot Import Days. lol.

I was planning on getting one of those caps until I found out how heavy they were. :-D

Yikes, weight savings must be a big issue to you.

You got that right! ;)

Actually I think the price of it stopped me more than the weight. haha

God, some of you have money to just waste. McDonald's must have upped their minimum wage. Hey, I have a turd that has "mazdaspeed" etched into it...bidding starts at $45.
