Just a quick question...do I lose my warranty if I decide to get a cold air intake?? s***..I thought I knew a lot about cars until I got into this site..I can't wait until I know almost everything I need to know about my second baby (MP3 BABY!!!)....

there is a chance you will lose your warranty if it has a pipe you add after the MAF. but if you just put everything in before the MAF you will be fine.. Your not supposed to mess with emissions equipment... even though a CAI isnt messing with emissions.

a MAF is the black thing right after your air box that reads how much air is going into the engine.. a CAI is a Cold Air Intake which the filter is outside of the engine bay and in the fender or grill.
PS i forgot to say that they can only void a warranty if something goes wrong with the car that is somehow related to the mod you did.
hope this hellped you...

some dealerships will b**** and make a big deal out of it to get around paying. One guy had his voided on his eclipse GST. He had intake and exhaust and his transmission went out and they blamed the intake and exhaust. Go figure. Then I think MP3girly still has her warranty and she has intake. I would check with the dealer and see what they say. You could always save your stock stuff and just put it back on before you go in for work.

Actually anything you do to your car will void your warranty, even changing the rims is a no-no. I hate to bust everyone's bubble, but if you've done any modifications that have to do with any of the mechanical parts of the car, your warranty is void.

This has been discussed at least three times here. No warranties are voided. If what you did caused the problem, then they can decline that particular repair, but it's against the law for Mazda or your dealership to void your warranty based solely on the presence of aftermarket gear. Do a search for the Magnusen-Moss warranty act.
