DIY Rims! Post them!

I've seen some killer pics of Mazdaspeed 3s with stock rims painted. My friend tried explaining how its done, but he is shy hair from being an idiot. I've seen threads but i can't find them. Anyone have good instructions or pictures of some fresh DIY rims? Final product pictures are very welcome!

Thought about painting my stockers black ever since i got the car.. interested in seem some more photos as well, maybe it will convince me to get started on it lol

I dont drive a 3, I rock a protege but yea, I sanded the stockers down, 3 coats leveling clean metal primer, 3 coats duplicolor black wheel paint, 3 coats duplicolor protective wheel clear coat. Holds up great to everyday driving, but I had a leaky tire that I took in to get patched the machine they use to seat the tires scrapped it off right down to the metal along the lip ... not a big deal to me I just re-sprayed them.

my old wheels were painted with the same thing, and after a couple weeks you can actually chip the paint off of the emblem's chrome with your thumb nail.. kinda ghetto, but it works. my next set I'm actually going to do a light polish on and just go strait to the clearcoat.

I just had my stockers painted black. No pics yet. I'll make sure to post them when I find some time to take some new pics.

An entire day taking into account drying time. Id say like 9:00 to like 6:00ish def worth it to let the rims sit overnight to let the paint cure a little before driving on em.

Sanding is really the only painn in the ass part

This is what my stock wheels looked like when i had them. I had to dig deep into my photobucket to find these pics..lol

scuffed them up real well, then i applied 3-4 light coats of paint. Then applied 2 light coats of metallic clear. I bought all the paint at advanced auto.

2 cans of high temp gold(looks bronze though)
1 can of metallic clear (made for wheels)
1 multi pack of sandpaper

Here's my mazda3 rims. Rustoleum pure gold spray paint. Had to put 25mm spacers to get it flush with the pro5 (rolled) fenders
