Has anyone successfully disabled the torque reduction feature on their MS3? If so, what needs to be done in order to do this?

Sorry mods I posted this in the wrong section could you please move it to the MS3 forum.

I don't understand why you'd want to. I had some torque steer kick in before the car reigned it in the other day and I can see why they went through great efforts to deal with it. The car will pull hard and fast to the right before a lot of drivers would catch it, IMO.

if you turn off the dsc, it feels stronger in 1st and 2nd, but there is currently no way to disable the torque reduction. Cobb's access port may address this in the future, but I am not sure.

For me personally, I just don't like being protected from myself. I've got a torque reduction device attatched to my right leg. It's usually wrapped in leather and rubber. I'd like to have all of the power the car is capable of putting down available to me regardless of what gear I'm in.

A very valid point that some people have brought up is that with the 1st and 2nd gear gimping it will take less exact throttle inputs to keep the car going straight without losing speed to wheelspin...but again, learning how to handle an unruly car is half the fun of driving it to me (glare)

I personally think this is one of the smartest features Mazda has ever come up with for STREET drivability. Just today, I was pulling out of a toll booth in 2nd gear around 2800rpm, it was about 50 degrees outside. I floored it and all the wheels did was spin. My tach said 6700rpm (in 2nd) and I was going about 27mph and my DSC light was blinking hard. Even with the torque reduction, the car still wheelspins.

The issue is, if the car starts to torque steer badly, in many situations you may not be able to react fast enough to correct it. Worse, you freak out and overcorrect.

Now on the track, different story. I run an RX-8 there and I turn DSC all the way off. On the street, let Mazda help you out a little :)

I want to be able to have the control of all the power, torque steer or not, if I want to spin those tires and fight with it, I should be able to. I agree with all of you that it is a great feature for "normal driving", but I would like to have the capability of disabling/enabling it anytime I want.

If you find a way to disable it, don't be surprised if Mazda totally voids your warranty for hacking their system :)

pull the fuse for it..........could be wired in with something else though. On my wrx I was trying to pull the airbag fuse which also disabled the ignition........with my new seats my airbags wont deploy anyways but I was jsut trying to get rid of the airbag light........electircal tape if your friend :)
