I just cleaned my engine bay and all looks good except for my hard pipes. I cant seem to get them clean enough. They look cloudy. I tried chrome polish but the pipes are aluminum and theres probably something better to try. Any suggestions?

Damn, dude, GJ.

Try taking the hard pipes off and dish washing them.

What's your mileage?

anyone know what you can do about watermarks on a injen intake? since we ar eon the topic of cleaning pipes...

Well when I clean pipes I like to use 420 cleaner, and let it soak for alittle bit.......oh woopps we are talking about a different kind of pipe..........haha umm use some simple green or something.....

damn and i thought i had a clean engine bay....looks like i have competition hehe lookin great bro!!!

found an old bottle of turtle wax chrome cleaner.
worked great on everything but the hardpipes.

meguiers mag polish should clean that up brilliantly. Both the pipes and the intake. Can be found at Wally world for about 5 bucks...

Looks nice allready!

Looks like turbo hoses hardpipes. I had to use some Barkeepers Friend to remove water spots from mine. I tried to buff them first with compound and a cutting pad, no luck. I polished them with Meguiars #26 wax and a final finish pad. A lot of work. But they look good now.

I too would like to know an easier way to get rid of water spots and keep the aluminum looking good. In my experience, the only solution has been to take them off and polish them with a buffer. I never use harsh cleaners in the engine bay anymore as they seem to promote spotting on the pipes and CAI.

While on the topic of cleaning (I didn't want to start a new thread).....
how do you clean intercoolers? My HiBoost FMIC went from shiny to hazy grey, and I am sure the fins are gunked up. Could you spray a degreaser or something powerful in the fins, then powerwash it? What are people using to clean their IC, without killing the fins? Thanks in advance.

yeah mine had the same problem on the endtanks....its all fuzzy looking. I used mothers aluminum polish which made it shiny again from a distance. But if you look close at it it still has rough spots. I would assume u sand it a little bit and then spray over it or something idk.
