digital camera advice

hmm, right now I''m trying to decide between the Canon a80 and the Canon SD10... anyone have any opinions?

Hmm tough choice. If you want portability, get the SD10. If you want the added options and a kick-ass camera, get the A80. If you want more durability and IMO a little more of a professional kick, try the S45.

LZ

And yes the A75 is good.

Just bought the Canon Powershot A75, very hot camera. Has many features that most 3.2MP cameras don't. You could never go wrong with a Canon. My second choice would be Nikon. My advice read reviews, I read many many reviews before chosing the A75.

This site was very helpful http://www.steves-digicams.com/

ok well im gonna buy the Canon powershot A75 either tonight or tomorrow.

where is the best place to buy them? i was either gonna go to Best Buy or Circuit City because they are close and offer a 4yr warranty which i will need since i occasionally drop my electronics on accident.

I bought mine at best buy. It was a Powershot A60, the little brother of what you're looking at. I paid $200, i think the A75 was about $275?

The first thing you need to know about going digital is this:

Don't believe ANYTHING anyone tells you about megapixels. There is a whole Megapixel myth going on right now. People want you to think that the more megapixels the better the image will be. That statement is only half true. It is was the camera DOES with the megapixels that matters.

This is one of the best articles you can read about digital photography:

Read it, know it, LEARN from it, then buy.

This is the digi I own:

s5000.jpg

Image quality of a camara that costs three times as much. I did research for 3 months before I bought my camera.

Definitely. But pixel count IS on of the main ingredients of a quality image. But so many other things come into play like sensor size, lens quality, noise level, etc.

Which is why the Canon EOS D30, an older 3 megapixel digital SLR, can out-perform most 5 megapixel cams in image quality...it uses a much bigger sensor, allows you to use the best lenses Canon has to offer, and has a low-noise sensor.

That said, I love my Canon Digital Rebel ;)

But I am also in the market for a very compact 4MP digital with manual control, and it looks like I"m going to stick with Canon.

I got the camera and a 64mb card and a case and a tri pod for $380.00 on ebay

That is about what I spent on my camera/64mb card combo! :)

Can't believe the image quality from the FUJI.
