Delsing Klunk Fix

I'm refering to you buying a product and copying Dave's design. Especially after he offered his plans up for sale to anyone that wanted to produce them. I only bought them after weeks went by and no one showed interest. To me these parts were too valuable to the community and of such high quality that I dodn't want to see them gone forever. That's why I put up the money to Dave for the production rights of his design. I've had some delays because some CAD files were missing and over winter time I travel for work and have a 60 hour work week, but I'll be home in a week or two in order to start setting things up.

You are incorrect in your comment that I copied his design. Yes it is true that I had one of his original units and yes it is true that I began my design from that model. Where Dave left off, I have continued. I have worked hard to make my design different looking, simple to install, inexpensive to manufacturer and provide all the advantages of the Delsing original. My version 3 is a composite of 2 previous models, several cad designs and hundreds of dollars in investment. I am confident that it will satisfy even the most discerning Mazda enthusiast.

The fact that the plans were sold to you does not give you exclusive rights to sell a particular product. If that were the case both Bridgestone and Good Year would not be able to sell tires. Its called competition, each has their individual tread designs and rubber compounds that make them different.

I do recall asking you last fall when the Delsing bracket you had would be available and you indicated later this year. At the end of that year (2005) you indicated later in 2006. I understand that you had missing drawings and not knowing what was happening in your life you obviously had encountered delays. I feel that your push to bring the Delsing bracket to market has only come to fruition do to the fact that I am only weeks away from a release of my own design.

I wish you luck with the Delsing and I look forward to the competition.

I am also confident that the bracket I am producing will be welcomed by the Mazda community as they have waited long enough for a fix to that annoying clunk.<O:p</O:p

Yes, I completely understand that. Short of turning this into a flame session I will simply say that I bought the Delsing designs after no one expressed an interest in them for two weeks. I bought them because I feel these parts improve the car greatly and I didn't want to see them become unavailable to the Mazda communty.

Yes, I was missing CAD files from Dave for a few months. He was in the middle of rebuilding his house and his family after the hurricane and my e-mails fell on deaf ears. It took a while but I finally got through to him in January and he e-mailed me the missing files.

I test and tune stability control systems on cars for a living. During the winter months my schedule is extremely busy. There is a lot of work that has to be done while good snow and ice is available. Because of this I live in a hotel 5 hours from home from Jan 3rd until the snow disappears. (Which is happening now) You say I am rushing them to market now because you are nearing compleation, but in reality my winter testing is coming to a close and my 60 hour work weeks and living in a hotel will end. When I return home I will have much more time to get things ready. In those last PM's I said they should be ready in spring 2006 (maybe it was to you, maybe it was to someone else) when my full time job calms down. That is why I'm close to making a run of parts.

I don't care who makes them. Just make them and we'll buy! Props to both of you for working on this.

Ya, Mazda went cheap...LMAO kinda like the small intercooler and plastic pipes. Those weren't weight saving ideas...

Its really too bad that mazda never followed through on these brackets because from everything I have read that these things really settle down the rear end. I like the idea of setting the breaks early, then power driving through the turns and slaloms.
Yeah, there are actual photos of the Racing Beat bracket that was used on the MP3. The test MSP's all had hard pipes on them. I have seen them as well. I am not sure why they went with the plastic bits but I can only assume that it was too save money. I don't buy the argument that the hard pipes were unsafe.
I have my Desling brackets and new bushings awaiting install which was going to be this weekend but APOC the AHOLE went to the coast instead. (deadhorse (poke) (deadhorse

I say almost a year later, you are correct.
