Mallard said:I'm refering to you buying a product and copying Dave's design. Especially after he offered his plans up for sale to anyone that wanted to produce them. I only bought them after weeks went by and no one showed interest. To me these parts were too valuable to the community and of such high quality that I dodn't want to see them gone forever. That's why I put up the money to Dave for the production rights of his design. I've had some delays because some CAD files were missing and over winter time I travel for work and have a 60 hour work week, but I'll be home in a week or two in order to start setting things up.
You are incorrect in your comment that I copied his design. Yes it is true that I had one of his original units and yes it is true that I began my design from that model. Where Dave left off, I have continued. I have worked hard to make my design different looking, simple to install, inexpensive to manufacturer and provide all the advantages of the Delsing original. My version 3 is a composite of 2 previous models, several cad designs and hundreds of dollars in investment. I am confident that it will satisfy even the most discerning Mazda enthusiast.
The fact that the plans were sold to you does not give you exclusive rights to sell a particular product. If that were the case both Bridgestone and Good Year would not be able to sell tires. Its called competition, each has their individual tread designs and rubber compounds that make them different.
I do recall asking you last fall when the Delsing bracket you had would be available and you indicated later this year. At the end of that year (2005) you indicated later in 2006. I understand that you had missing drawings and not knowing what was happening in your life you obviously had encountered delays. I feel that your push to bring the Delsing bracket to market has only come to fruition do to the fact that I am only weeks away from a release of my own design.
I wish you luck with the Delsing and I look forward to the competition.
I am also confident that the bracket I am producing will be welcomed by the Mazda community as they have waited long enough for a fix to that annoying clunk.<O
