My recomendation is do the oil changes more frequently and you'll have better protection. Synthetic in a turbo motor gives people a false sense of security IMO. Yes it will hold up to heat better than standard oil, but eventually it breaks down just like normal oil. the difference is now that you have synthetic in your motor you believe you can run longer with it and thats false, its not doing its job properly anymore. Now if you run synthetic and do an oil change every 3k, well i guess thats the max protection you can get, BUT does it pay off. 70.00 every 3 k makes for alot of money spent on a car just for oil changes, assuming most don't do their own oil changes.
Now gasoline is a different story. I run race track or whatever in all my Cars but the SVO. The SVO gets texaco, shell, or cheveron everytime. WHY, well because i have that car setup/tuned on the ragged edge and i need decent gas for it to not detonate and burn a piston. all my other cars have knock sensors and can survive on crapy gas, if they ever get it.
For my daily driver cars, i'll run anything i can get UNLESS i notice that the performance of the car is lacking with a certain type of gas.
I'm curious if you think i'm treating my car like s*** because i opt to not get into the hype of synthetic oil..........
Look either way, i'm not trying to persuade people either way, personally i don't care, what i do want though is to inform people that just because TV says its the best, doesn't mean its neccessary or that it will protect your motor any better given your driving and oil change habits..
