Dealer begging for sales

So I was in my dealer today and ran into the sales manager and talked to him a little, nothing special. Anyway, tonight I receive an email from the sales manager stating Mazda has a $1250 owner loyalty this month and that they could get me into a brand new cx5 with 0 miles while keeping my monthly payment the same(have only had my cx5 a little over a year now).

Just made me laugh. Like really, so the several thousands of dollars I spent this last year would be all for nothing. I don't want to say they're struggling to sell but this seems like a pretty big reach.

same payment, but your trade in value is going to suck
it's one of the biggest rip offs ever

pretty much exactly what happened to me at the first dealership I went to, willing to meet my number on the price but then offered me $800 for my '09 3 - laughed & walked out

Well emails don't cost a thing, it is cheap marketing. There are many marketing tools that let you send thousand's of email, report back all those that opened it, report all those that acted on it so you can further target sales.
I would say thats one way of marketing - doesnt hurt much and if it gets a sale thats great.

Having said that If i were buying a CX-5 NOW : I would take 15-17% off MSRP plus any accessories under $200 for free.
