I am supposed to pick up my new 3 5 door on Tuesday. I have been reading as much as I can on this car and have found lots of people are having problems.
1) air bag sensors 2)front brake squeal 3)rear hatch rattle 4)pass door rattle 5)hard starting due to fuel pump pressure 6)excessive rear brake dust 7)lousy A/C
8) paint chipping. Am I being paranoid or shall I back out of the deal?the fuel pump and paint chipping bug me the most. I don't have time to hassle with the dealer. I am buying a new car to not have problems. Thanks

pick it up.. you'll never forgive yourself if you don't.

every car has its "undocumented features."

go with your gut.. once you see the car again, you'll know why you bought it

Trust your instincts - if you are already having doubts now - start looking at other cars. Do the research - if you find another car you like more buy it. But don't make the leap of purchase unless you are absolutely sure.

All cars have little issues. Get on any car message board and people will find things to complain about.

Yea I am with replica, on the problems w/ the 3. Get the car, you wont regret it, atleast i dident !!

(linkin park rocks!!!!)

Well I haven't had any of those problems except for the rear brake dust issue and my car is at 1300 miles. By comparison my 2003 Acura CL has a history of a high ratio of tranny issues, sunroof rattles, rear deck rattles and, for me, an unfixable B-pillar rattle; all in a $32K car. Again these issues may have a higher incidence of occuring but you aren't guaranteed to have them. What's nice is that it seems many manufacturers do work out the bugs as production goes along.

Plus many new cars come with a neat feature called a bumper to bumper warranty.

It also appears, from the posts where people included them, that the earlier build dates have a higher rate of problems.

While this is certainly not a scientific method, I think they've probably made adjustments to the manufacture process as they go.

I'm not too worried about a little break dust... now, if i could only pay off my d*mn credit card sooner, I'd be out joining you on the street in my new Mazda3!

You wont find a car of this quality for this low money. I promise you that. Yeah there's a few nicks here and there, but that's what the warrenty is for. Trust us... go get the car. Anything crops up, lets mazda fix it... and for 99% uptime on the car, its WORTH IT!!! :)

I've only have about 380 miles so far, but I haven't had any problems so far and am really happy with this car's value. The other things in this price range all seemed like a sacrifice after driving the Mazda3.

I have around 3800 miles on my car and have had no problems at all. None so far. I got my car in january too. I dont know why people are so hung on problems. They are minor clitches. As long as the car drives well there shouldnt be any complaints.

Rear Brake dust, and the reverse gear getting stuck. Other than that, I haven't found many other issues.
