dashhawk question

I'm planning on buying a dashhawk and fabricating a custom mount for it on my center dashboard. However, this would mean that the cables would be hidden and the obd cable will run under the dash to the obd port and the usb cable will run out of the glovebox or under it.

my question is, if the usb and obd are plugged into the dashhawk simultaneously (but the obd is not connected to the car) can I use all the datalogging features straight into a laptop on my passenger side?

the obd cable that comes with it prob isn't long enough to snake around the inside the dash and up to the middle - it might make it - but i don't know where you could get a longer one (it's not something you would want to splice) -
the dh software just retrieves the files from the dh and allows you to look at them on that software - you can't look at them live -
you could set it up this way, but you would have to turn off the car or unplug it to retrieve your logs
but why? some of the nice things about the dh is that it can do performance tests, clear dtcs, and live monitor what you choose - all features that are nice to be able to take from car to car - it will work with a huge list of obd2 cars
i did a simple cell phone mount over on the left and run the wire up the side - i can click it in or take it out - but to each his own
