Dang! My two cents / feelings CX-7...

Not Bashing...

Oh well, I clearly stated in my opening thread, that I was not bashing anyone.

I was hoping to get some insight on the CX-7 from "those" who actually own and drive one (as opposed to simply Mazdafanatics <- nothing wrong with being brand loyal I may add).

I do think the CX-7 is wonderfully styled, and greatly packaged (powertrain wise).

I reiterate, I think Mazda missed the boat on there shortcomings (mentioned earlier) that could of easily been addressed (since they paid already for the R&D for most of there options).

I would even look pass the options I really liked/wanted, had the price been in accordance with what I feel is "just".

I think the bullseye for the CX-7 is the X3 / RDX. They made a great first model attempt. There are other players in the marketplace, each justifying there price and options.

I'm just not sold on its shortcomings (for myself) vis-a-vis the asking price for now.

Cheers,

LormaD

Again, why is it over priced compared to the market place? You can't back up your statement. It's not over priced when compared to its competiion, A point which I made several times and you have presented no facts to beck up your claims.

If you have that many negatives and it bothers you...don't buy it. You want sporty then Mazda is it......it won't have the fine luxury appointments as a Lexus....it's a matter of what you want and how much you want to spend. Why are you considering this car then was my first impression? To me Mazda's are really good values...nice interiors(better than most any american car), great handling....surpasses all American cars and some other foreign cars and some unique styling and small little neat things to set it apart. If you have not driven a Mazda lately....maybe you should. It is a driver's car....you will feel the road. All the little extra's you mentioned would be nice to have that is true, but then all those items tend to add up and do we really need all those other things that make us lazy or spoiled? It's a great value...I have had many different cars(I get a car every 2-3 years) and this is my 3rd Mazda in a row! It's Ok to post what you did but it sounds like you want a Lexus.....but you will pay for all the things you want. Good luck in your choice....I hope if you decide to get the Mazda you don't complain all over again though! All cars have things we wish we could have...we all have suggestions to improve this car and any other car out there....but we don't know the whole story and cost involved. No car is perfect! Cheers.

Cruz - Are you after a THIRD CX-7! It sounds like you are trying out the next new Mazda marketing campaign!

I can see it now - the "Lincoln Mercury Chick" will be wearing some stylish brown & terquois outfit, having tired of the Mariner's styling & Milan's handling, asking that very question...

"Have you driven a Mazda lately? Maybe you should. Its a driver's car... you will feel the road."

She'll have me looking at a 2nd CX-7!

Dude, Edwin you can install all the stuff on a car you want....but you cant install a curse word filter from your brain to your mouth.

Haha, but seriously he came on a mazda forum expecting us not to be biased....

Next thing you know, he'll want shields and a flux capacitor.

OK,OK....you like changing your clothes right ?? then Change is better !! I went from an Integra, to a Mustang, then to an Accord, and then to a Mazda 6. All is good for me, My wife thinks the CX7 is sexy, and then again, i still beleive she is sexiest woman alive... The end result, were both happy, and thats all that counts. I like it , she likes it, done deal.... The future is unpredictable....If you dont like it, leave it alone and stop wasting time.

Hope your wife likes the RAV, or the CRV, or the RDX... I say let her decide, shes the one who will be driving it most, right?. When she buys her clothes, her shoes, her purse, do you wear it ?
Case closed ?

Good luck to you up there, and oh by the way. Dont worry about the size of the MAZDA logo/emblem. If you havent forgotten, let me remind you, BIGGER is better.
Right !!! (stfu)

LOL...GOOD LUCK

In a written type format it is hard to tell the tone many times....it's just that the whole way through you complained and it just makes us wonder....why even consider this vehicle if you feel it's not a good value and it misses out on many things you want! It's cool....no worries.....I am not mad with you....just wondering what the point is if you have so many issues....I agree cars are expensive and I am glad I am not in Canada...I could not afford it! Compare your cars by driving them and write up your comparisons and maybe don't share unless CX 7 kicks butt....this is a CX 7 forum and of course we want the good instead of the bad. hee, hee. Written words are tough in this type of scenario...gotta watch how you say it is all I guess. Good luck again.

I agree with wendy why do you even consider it.

As a fellow canadian i have drove my white cx-7 since august, and have put on 5200 kms on it.. and so far no problems with the cuv. When i first got the cx-7 i had doubts if this was the right car, and if i had researched enuff.

Honestly after theses 3 months i am glad i got this car. I dont agree with you about the price. It is prob the best bang for your buck vechicle. The only vehicle that i see that compete it really is the rdx, and that is an extra 10k more.

Sure the cx-7 is 3k more than the crv like u said, but like you said it has better preformance and handling than it. and that what matters to me most.

I never liked SUV before because i considered their handling sucks, but vehicles like the cx-7 or rdx changed my mind.

Thats my 2 cents.

value...

Well, I've found the SUV that I feel offers the most value for the dollar. No, it's not a CX-7. I was hoping to get some more insight about this vehicle, by questioning and challenging CX-7 owners. AND, where better than IN the CX-7 section of the forum (despite the NON CX-7 owners chiming in with irrelevant banter).

I went for the Lexus RH-400.

It has all of the options that my wife and I were looking for. She loves the colour, style and the way it drives. I like the solid engineering, stellar reliability offered by Lexus products, and best packaging IMHO for an SUV.

Price, $67,230K tax in ($59,000K before taxes). It's loaded to the hilt (NAVI, DVD Player, Bluetooth h/f, 18", Memory/Heated/Electric seats, Mark Levinson Audio, etc....) and gets 38mpg in the city (hey, it's a HYBRID SUV).

For myself, it came down to dollar for value. I feel there is more value in the RH-400 for the money. Dealers have left over inventories for the Hybrid RX's. Would I have paid the retail price, $80,904CDN? NO. Can I justify spending 20K more for a Lexus? You bet.

I'll be back in 3 years with an update, hope to see everyone then.

Cheers,

LormaD
