Dang! My two cents / feelings CX-7...

I just came across this post. I have owned my CX-7 for a few months and am extremely happy with the value proposition it offers. I got the GT/no tech package at $400 over invoice.

That said, I do agree with lormad's misgivings about the missed details. The tech package at this day and age should have memory settings, bluetooth, and even ipod integration. These things have been around for a long time.

Obviously none of this was important to me. I didn't want to spend $4k for the tech package. I bought a Garmin I3 for $250 instead. It fits perfectly in the console and as a I travel a lot, it's super portable & ideal for rental cars. At home I tend to not need a Nav system, as I know my way around town...

I also think that the interior quality (materials used, not talking about fit here) of the car is decent but by no means awesome. But hey, at $27k it offers excellent value.

The front badge is a little big. I prefer understated design but again, that's fairly minor.

By the way, why does everyone seem to think that the car is not selling well? Mazda just exceeded there quarterly profit due to higher than anticipated CX-7 sales...

"Sales grew 12.5 percent in the first half to 1.52 trillion yen ($12.96 billion), up from 1.35 trillion yen, said Mazda, which is 33 percent owned by Ford Motor Co. Mazda based its earnings on Japanese accounting standards.

Strong sales of the Mazda CX-7 sports utility vehicle in the U.S., as well as of the Mazda5 minivan and Mazda MX-5 Miata sports car in both the American and European markets, helped to lift revenues, the company said."

people think its not selling because they dont see them in their area of living.

In comparison, I have homes in MA & RI, and here in the east, from what i see in my travels with work and leisure, the CX is outselling, by far, the 2007 CRV, but not the RAV. There are CX-7's popping up everywhere now, maybe because word of mouth has driven sales or maybe a lot of people may be getting more interested in the MAzda due to its dominating reviews, especially that one on edmunds which ranked it higher than the Rav.

Alot of people buy cars along the lines of the "its a Honda" persuasion. Seems like at least in MA & RI - the MAzda has taken over some of the reign around here. Rightfully so I think, the product is excellent.

Im new to the Mazda culture, but from asking around and researching, MAzda owners are just the same as Toyota & Honda, they know the value of a Mazda - i will admit i never considered buying a MAzda, not for any particular reason, but i always thought that going Honda was a safer bet. (i obviously dont think that now!)

By contrast.....havent seen ONE (1) CX7 on the road where I live! Too many Rav's and CRV's, Tribeca's, etc.

That they sell so well is a double-edged sword. I like it because it validates my decision, I hate it because more of them pop up in my area. A couple of months ago I saw one, now I am up to 5-6 different sightings.

The Lexus RX-300/330 are a dime-a-dozen around here, mostly women drivers too.

Ok, I don't want to belabor any points, but this thread spurred on a conversation between me and my wife. We have BOTH hit our heads getting into the car. We share it about 50-50 so a memory would be really awesome. Also, she has to sit closer to the wheel than I like in order to reach the pedals. Other Mazdas have a tilt-telescope column, why not this one? Not deal killers, but really, it wouldn't have been all that hard to add. My last car had it, plus the seat automatically slid back when you took the key out....very handy.

I married a woman that has the exact same driving position that I do. It's pretty sweet- too bad we don't wear the same size thongs or I'd be golden.

I have the same driving position as my mom even though I'm 5 inches taller.. :P same driving position as my dad too. guess I'm lucky :P

ya dude. I'm 5 or six inches taller than her, but still sit the same distance away from the wheel. Guess she's got long legs!!! WOOT!

Its not been deliver yet till next month and all until that coming in next month sold out here in Singapore. A check with Mazda and the next availability for popular color like copper red only in April 2007.. (omg)

I test drove the Rav4 V6 sport and i got car sick 'cause the suspension sucks and when you turn the car turns like a boat and angles into the turn... The interior is piss poor too. Name recognition is the only reason they're selling them, well that and the looks it looks pretty cool (not as cool as the cx-7 of course).
