Thanks (thumb), I thought the red racing beat sway bar was only on the MSP's I'am going to check tomorrow but I think mines black.

i didn't realize you had a p5.

So no red racing beat sway bar on yours. But, there should still be bushings on a smaller sway bar, and could possibly be the same problem.

Update on using oil:


Bad idea kids... the squeak came back in about a week and a half.

Went to PepBoy's and picked up some Silicone Lubricant (black spray can, don't recall a brand name) and redid the process... we'll see how long this lasts. Now for the grease, should I be looking for a tube with grease? Or the spray can? The fella at PepBoy's looked at me like I had a dildo on my forehead when I asked for silicone grease, then pointed me in the direction of this spray silicone lubricant I picked up, which was parked right next to the WD-40. We'll see I geuss.

I lubed the sway bar bushings very well with white lithium grease and it squeeked immediately following the procedure.

I'll check it out again when I get under there next time... Sounds like a really old car and requires only a slight bit of movement to create said squeekage.

This is what I used. No squeak yet (knock on wood) and it's been about a month.

I went to the dealer about a month ago for the squeek and after arguing enough with them that it was the bushings they put white grease on them. The squeek went away until two days ago, when it came back on a hot day. Now squeeking is back whenever the bushings are gettin hot (hot day or long drive).

I'm thinking about lubing them myself now with silicon spray that I bought not long ago. But I'm not sure on how to proceed. Do I really need to remove all pressure on the sturts or just jack it and if I have access then fine ? Because I don't know how much force there is on the endlinks with the sturts pressured. I have ramps but not a big buntch of jacks...

How do you guys proceed ?

My sqeak is back!

But all you have to do is jack up the back of the car (make sure you use jackstands) and remove the bolts that holdt he two brackets on. Pull out the rubber and lube.

I drove my car up backwards onto a set of ramps and started removing and lubing and then replacing... I found out the squeak was indeed emanating from the sway bar bushings, which had gone almost completely dry again...

This time, I used synthetic gear grease for bicycle parts made by Trek. It's lasted a week, through salty air, hot temps, and lots of load...(beach vacation) And, the cratchety squeaking is GONE!

yea I have it bad also, there are a ton of threads on this. WD-40 is BAD. It will break down the rubber in the bushing.

I used Slick 50 grease and it lasted months. So now I'm trying some lube from the space Station. It's High temp ....like 400 degrees, sythetic (sp) grease. We shall see how long it lasts.

I'm finally getting my swaybar changed tomorrow since it had all its powder coating scrap off at bushing contact. My dealer will look to lube the bushings with high quality sillicon paste on reinstall. Will see how it goes from there. I'll keep you guys updated.

The only thing I'm sad about is that they'll keep the same E series bushings that I have since 6000 kms. They think they aren't weared yet it seems, but I would have prefered an all new fresh start. But then again we'll see...

I have a squeaking noise that sounds like its coming from the front sway bar bushings, but maybe its actually the rear, and I cant tell...

I couldn't really tell either... but now I'm pretty sure that it's coming from the back cuz it only makes a squeak when people I got people loaded up in the back seat.
