Ok I got to vent... had all the recalls done.. car was running nice and this morning I wake up to a check engine light... I suspect the new throttle valve thingy they replaced with the recall failed given its been less than 500 miles since they serviced it...

The beast is in tomorrow and the wild thing is going in on Friday... sometimes I wonder if I should have stuck with the faulty window regulators.. arggg... car is running like crap too so I know something is out of whack...

my ms3 threw a CEL at 10 miles on my way home from the dealership....but everything is cool now.. dealer said it was a ECU glitch because the car was sitting for so long..shes been CEL free for 350 miles now... anyway good luck man..

Ecu glitch, that is B.S. I had 3 cels in the last month, one was the shutter valve, which they replaced 100 miles ago and the light is back on, goes in tomorrow. What a PIA.

I suspect they didnt install the shutter valve correctly or the replacement units have infant mortality... let me know what they find on yours as mine goes in Friday...

Well mine was the PCV (purge valve) and it was acting up before the light came on as the car is running really nice now.. and I thought my shifting skills had gotten lazy these last few weeks... dealer was nice enough to check brake pads, tire pressure, fluid levels and all the other "inspection" crap without charging me a cent...

I had a CEL about 40 miles after bringing my baby home from the lot. Turns out that whoever filled the car up at the dealership didn't put the gas cap back on correctly and it popped off due to the vibrations. Way to go filler-upper-guy. Well, after that, I'm now at 1100 miles and so far so good.

Yea thats the most common reason for the CEL and one that everyone should check for themselves prior to taking to dealer... I doubt you will run into more CEL issues.. most of us who have run into them are 07 and most have been handled with the TSB/recalls...

The purge valve failure seems to be a more rare occurence (Dread and I are all I know of so far)

I know I was going to shoosh about this...but my sunroof regulator FAILED on my 325. I'm am going to do some research to see if BMW has regulators on anything else just to ease my mind.
