Daedalus Winter Update '06 Photo Thread *No 56k*

the car looks good...but i'm not entirely feeling the wheels. i think a better choice would've been some 6 spoke volks, but that's just me. the thing that sets off a little thing in my head is the hub. on volks, they're a nice smooth dish, but on these rims it's like a straight drop, which i'm not a huge fan of. but i guess like you they would grow on me after a bit

From what I can see in the pics, I love the wheels. It would be nice to have one in the hyper black finish for comparison .. but considering that the silver ones look rather dark, I bet the black would've been too much. For my tastes, at least. Definitely like the wheels, tho'. What kinda tires are you running? Or am I an asshole, and you said somewhere and I missed it in my eagerness t'look at the pics?

.. Don't paint the hood. I never painted mine. I don't feel the need to. Get a set of DGM CF eyelids to bring together all the CF on the front end, and there won't be any need to cover up any of the gorgeous CF with paint. :D

Just a suggestion, tho' .. Do what you will, it's lookin' great!!

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I'm still unsure about it. I'm gonna do some photochopping tonight and see how i feel about it. I would leave it unpainted, and get a CF grille, etc, but in my opinion, that has been done one too many times, and is just too common on proteges. I like being, at least a little different than everyone else.

As for the tires, i'm running 215/35/18 Toyo Proxie 4's and they are finnally starting to get scrubbed in after 100 miles on them and DAMN they are a HUGE improvement over the stock rubber. I dropped into an on ramp doing about 10mph faster on these things tonight, and they are still improving with every mile i put on them. Good stuff! Road noise, and ride has actually improved over the stock setup!

Thanks again to everyone who keeps reading this thread. I do it for you guys and i love hearing the comments! (thumb)

It feels strange to say, "it's coming together real nice," when The Banana of Fury was so f'in sweet already. I, as well, was unsure about the wheels at first but they do grow on ya. I bet you are right saying the pics don't do them justice. Everytime I see them i like 'em a little more.
Keep up the great work man, and keep setting that bar higher.(first)
IMO, paint the hood. You probably won't be able to see the real beauty through pics, but i bet it'd be KILLER in person.

Paint the sides, and front section of the hood... and leave only the sunken part behind the vent unpainted. The only place for a fully unpainted CF hood is on a black car, and even I have gotten sick of the way it stands out... gonna paint most of my hood and trunk in the spring.

The car looks very good imo. You def. have one the nicest proteges on this forum.
I don't agree that the proxes 4's are better than the stock rubber. Don't get me wrong I run the proxes 4's also, and they are a great all around tire, but I don't think that when pushed they are as good. Maybe its the fact that i'm running a larger sidewall, I know the sidewalls are not as stiff on the toyo's as they are on the re040's.

Well at least you guessed my paint scheme. 10 points for you!

Look mean with the new hood. I personally wouldn't paint it and I will bet the rims look ten times better in person. I know mine do.

Well, if you dont paint it we can be twinkies MSPs! I think yellow is one of the few colors that looks good with c/f...(glare)

ooooh... more stufff... nice. i like those wheels! you said they are lighter than the stockers, how much do they weigh?

Real quick and basic color match for you. I think you should paint it. I think the contrast is too loud to be considered good looking.

but also, wtf is this "let's rethink this" pile behind your car?

yeah dude, thats f'in hot.... the CF left for the 'depression' part would be hot too.... but thats just too much contrast going from a bright yellow to CF.

One thing you could consider if you like full CF.... i'm not sure who's car it was, but i saw it at the texas meet, a banana with a CF reverse cowl, and i think they sprayed 1 or 2 thin coats of yellow onto the CF, so the weave was still real obvious, but it had a yellow tint....... just another idea, but i still perfer body color personally.

Thanks for the P-Chop... i've been chopping that photo all night long. I think i'm going to stick with my original plan, but all painted sure is looking good. I just dont know if i can paint over all of that beautiful weave!

As for the pile in the back. Thats the pile of deadness. Consisting of blown mitsubishi, honda, toyota, and one MSP short blocks. You never know when you might need a spare bracket off of one! I actually have 3 engines in that pile... booo hisss.
